Which boxer's have managed to remain rated amongst the top fighters/ always get big fights despite a number of controversy's/ losses at the top level and had things been a little different- could well not be relevant anymore.

Here are some I feel have lady luck riding with them:

    • Felix Strum- Lucky not to have 2 defeats against Macklin and Murray, lost to Geale to no longer be seen as number 2 at Middleweight, then lost to Soliman only to have the verdict changed to an NC because Soliman was juicing- thus remaining relevant.
    • Marco Huck- 3 close fights against Afolabi, none of which he lost, highly controversial PTS wins against Lebedev and Arslan. Still rated either 1st or 2nd by most at Cruiserweight.
    • Zab Judah- Has 8 losses but still recognized as one of the top fighters at 140 and continues to get big fights. Don't be surprised to see him get a fight with Broner in the near future.

    You got any more? :think

I didnt think Murray got robbed vs Sturm I actually think Sturm was robbed of a win and got a draw which to me was funny, I do remember Sturm getting ragged for a robbery in the Ghevor fight which nobody mentions much anymore

Huck got the favor returned on him with the Povetkin scorecards

Chris Byrd got called lucky to get the nod vs Golota and Oquendo and lucky that Vitali decided not to tough out the last few rounds

Ruiz was a little lucky in the Golota fight on the scorecards and he got a lot of swings at the WBA but then again he did get hosed vs Valuev

Manuel Medina had more lives than a litter of cats.

Loses IBF Featherweight title to Tom Johnson yet gets a shot to regain title a few months later, which he fails to do.

Gets beaten by Johnson again for the IBF title, yet later that year gets another title shot and wins WBC title.

Loses WBC title and then gets another shot at Naseem Hamed, less than a year later.

Loses again when he gets another shot at the WBC title and also loses his very next fight to Derrick Gainer, less than a year later he gets another title shot and wins back the IBF title.

Loses IBF title after 1 defence then regains IBF title for a second time 2 years later.

Loses IBF title again yet in his 2 next fights gets 2 title shots for the IBF title, both of which he loses.

Then wins WBO title but loses in the rematch.

So Medina was a 3 time IBF, 1 time WBC and 1 time WBO champion at featherweight. He had a total of 11 shots for the 4 major titles as well as a couple of shots at lesser known titles. His last fight was an eliminator for the IBF title so had he won that he would have gotten another shot at a title. How can a fighter lose so many times and still keep getting title shots?

IIRC, I think he was in a title eliminator not all that long ago. I'll have to look it up.

Ali? A bit controversial but there you go. People like to ignore his many dodgy wins and outright cheating from his team.
