RJJ puts a beatdown on him. Hearns won't land his trademark right hand.

I'd take Heans by KO but won't have an easy time doing it.

at Middle? Hmmmm... i'll go with Hearns. one shot on that chin of Jones and it's over. actually, one shot from Jones on Hearns chin and it's over...

but i think Jones would be very cautious here and would end up giving Hearns the time needed to settle down. Hearns will line something up and let it go.

if they were around today, Jones wouldn't touch him with a barge pole. he'd duck like he always did with the big fights.

Jones vastly overrated as a boxer, Hearns would school him.

The problem for Hearns is that middleweight Roy Jones is a big puncher.

All it would take is one shot to begin proceedings on a stoppage.

50/50 fight imo. If it goes the distance Hearns wins comfortably.

Read in a boxing magazine right after the fight I think from the Petronelli's that Hagler trained to go all out non stop for 6 rounds.
They knew Haglers chances to box Hearns were slim.
According to the Pertronelli's had Hagler not done enough damage in those early rounds, Hagler would have been spent after 6, but it was a risk they chose to take and it worked for Hagler.
Not enough fighters are willing to risk getting their tank emptied when really they have no other choice if they're in it to win it.
    Hagler should be commended.

Hagler forced the fast pace and got inside Hearns reach forcing him to fight or get steam rolled early.

When a fighter comes at you forcing the issue the way Hagler did against Hearns you have only two choices. Fight or cave in under the pressure.
Hearns to his credit chose to fight and what a "Marvelous" fight it was! :yep

    Prove it!

Eubank was happy with his ITV and Sky contracts. He's admitted on numerous occasions that he didn't chase the likes of Roy. He said last month on The Super Middleweights programme on Sky Sports, that it would have been suicide to fight Roy in his prime.

Benn was a Don King fighter, and King wanted future options on Roy, according to Roy and Greg Fitz. Also, the Levin's, who handled Roy back then, were very reluctant to deal with King.

How did Roy duck McClellan? The fight was never viable at 160, and unfortunately, he only had the one fight at 168, which was the tragic encounter with Benn.

Calzaghe was relatively unknown outside of Europe when Roy was prime, and he fought in a DIFFERENT weight class.

DM and his promoter turned down the proposal of a double header in America, which would have been a great idea. It would have introduced DM to the American public, and hyped the fight. Also, Kerry Davis - VP for HBO, tried on several occasions to negotiate with DM's promoter, but he was never available to sit down for negotiations, and he was never available even via the phone. According to Roy, HBO offered DM $5M, and he turned it down. Also, according to Murad Muhammad, he wanted $6M, yet he was making between $1-1.5M for each WBO title defence in Germany. Go and look at his resume. Go and look at who, where, and when he fought certain guys. His resume speaks volumes. He never wanted Roy, and was content doing what he was doing, fighting the likes of Hall twice, after Roy had toyed with him, and Joey De Grandis etc.

    That's 5 gone.

I'll give you Nunn, and he dismissed Collins.

After Roy couldn't unify at 168, he moved up to 175, and Collins got left behind. Roy wasn't interested in Steve's WBO belt at 168.

When Roy was at 175, Collins was dismissed a 2nd time, to instead fight Reggie Johnson in a unification fight.

    Who else???

If you want to carry on with this discussion, can you please go to the thread titled - Roy Jones Vs today's best fighters, across 6 divisions.

Because it's not fair discussing it here, when it's a different subject matter.

    Thanks!

    Haha!

Is that all you've got to say for yourself?

Is that the only response you can muster up?

You can't come back with anything to refute what I've said, so it's ignore and repeat all over again.

Look, if you're going to come on here and start bad mouthing a fighter for ducking, then be prepared to be challenged, and have evidence to back up your claims.

Otherwise, shut the hell up. :good

I'm convinced many of the posters in this thread never saw Roy fight in his prime. Let alone Hearns at 160.

Hearns telegraphic right would never find its mark on a prime jones. Jones wins easy
