My daughter won got placed in a British dancing championships with a broken toe- she is 9. I won a fight with a thumb I'd broken 4 days earlier in my last sparring session. Yet he thought a broken toe was excuse for not giving it a go in a multi million pound fight in front of a worldwide audience?:patsch
The cash and publicity stole his heart.

Money can't buy you pride, I guess the critics just have different priorities than the likes of you and Haye. If its all about cash then fair enough but don't expect respect from any hardcore boxing fan. I'd rather be on my deathbed and look back and know I took on the best like Barrera or Marquez then ducked and dived but earned a **** load like Haye.

Succesful in maximising revenue not in maximising ability.

    Not maximising ability??????

    English Cruiserweight Title
    European Cruiserweight Title
World WBA, WBC & WBO Crusierweight Titles
    World WBA Heavyweight Title

and to be a little pedantic about things

    WBO International Heavyweight Title
    WBA Intercontinental Heavyweight Title

My knowledge does not extend to the amateur honours he won.

I will concede not to see someone of his ability fight more often can be in some peoples eyes a little frustrating but to state he has not maximised his ability is mad.

Do you agree he has the ability to beat the Kitcho's .............if you do then by default he hasn't maximised his ability

His career has not finished yet and that is why I think this thread is mad especially when you put into context what titles he has won already.

many people on here have little concept of what professional sport is all about. How many years of practice ,time effort, dedication and punishment does it take to get to the highest level? No matter what we think I'm sure Haye is more than aware about his own limits and goals. Most of these lads aren't Oxbridge graduates if he has done enough to secure his and his family's future in his mid thirties why should he continue to get punched in the head cos we don't think he has achieved his full potential?

You are missing the point, if he stayed humble, and achieved what he achieved then no one would say a thing. it's the fact that he claimed he was going to clean up the heavyweight division, knock out both Wlad and Vitali. He implied he wanted to achieve great things at heavyweight. He gives it all the talk and then he fights once every 2 years and mostly against domestic level fighters.

What he says and what he ends up doing are 2 different things.

Yes it's his career, he can do what he wants, but for all his talk he's not gone and backed it up. But he has become very rich and good luck to him. Just I don't buy the sell now from him, that's all. If he goes on a run and goes and beats a klit brother, then fair play to him and he would fully get my respect, but I am talking about what he has done so far, and whilst I can't really fault his cruiserweight campaign, his heavyweight career leaves a lot to be desired.

What's so bad about Tyson Fury compared to Povetkin, I don't rate Povetkin that much higher than Fury in all fairness.

David Haye superb fighter, only problem I have is he shouldnt have had a year plus break after beating down Chisora. Like someone said his career is far from over, and if he does regain the heavyweight crown, hey who knows even unifies it will be one hell of a career.

All the money whoring and lying and dirty business tactics does not endear yourself to fans, that being said he is a talented fighter just wish he had the dignity and heart to go with the talent like Carl Froch.

There is so much hypocrisy on here is it astonishing.

I criticised Fury for ducking Pulev and people defend him saying he'd earn more from a Haye fight so it was a obvious decision etc yet criticise Haye for doing his best to maximise his earning potential.

It is a business first & foremost if he fights Fury it is because it makes a lot more money barring a fight against one of the twins.

It comes down to one thing £ & as fans that is where the frustration is sadly hardcore boxing fans probably make up 10-20% of the people that buy PPV etc.The casuals are the real targeted audience money wise & has been that way for a long time in boxing going back decades.

The old saying if it makes money it makes sense springs to mind whenever I think of boxing especially with heavyweights.
