Watch the 3rd round again, banks was desperately trying to get Mitchell out of there. Does no one think it's possible that banks was having a hard time getting inside Mitchell's jab due to a big reach advantage. Is it not possible banks didn't want to engage due to mitchells power? I think it's ridiculous calling that a fix. Banks got outboxed and out thought and that's it.

So many people want to belive that every American heavyweight contender is a hype job. Never taking in to account how non compitive everyone is against the Klitckos'. When an American Heavyweight gets ko'd it vendacates this opinion. So now when this hype job dose not get knocked out when he wins. Those people cry fix. They don't take into account that knockouts are pretty common at heavyweight. It has more to do with the person delivering the punch than the man reciving it. If a 200 Lbs+ man hits anyone on the chin. Circuts are getting scrambled. Espicilly now with most heavyweights being bigger than ever before. They refuse to beleive that one boxer in this case Mitchel can learn from his mistakes, or that the other boxer in this case Banks would so much rely on his oppoent to make the same mistakes, that he wouldn't have a plan B.

Banks is so good he knows how to punch people without knocking them out, now that is precision. Excellent dive last night.

How the **** do you explain banks hardly throwing another power punch after round 3 or 4.Was he injured?.

Banks lost on Purpose last night, after he rocked Mitchell early in the fight, he hardly threw another punch in the rest of the fight. One of the weirdest fights i have ever seen.

Mitchell has a glass chin, its already been proved and would have been shattered again last night if Banks would of actually threw punches.

No, it's not like that. See, what happened is that Lamon Brewster poisoned him. Brewster poisoned Banks, and the effects kicked in the third round.

maybe he Broke his hand them i don't know, all i know is that after 3 or 4 rounds Banks stopped trying against a guy he knows is carrying glass, makes little to no sense.

Couldn't get inside Mitchell's jab apart from one time and then Mitchell listened to what his corner said and leant forward onto banks every time he landed clean and got hurt so banks couldn't get any more punches off. Maybe banks got hurt and became hesitant to engage?

Do you understand boxing at all?

He is a counter-puncher with poor stamina fighting a guy with a better reach who (this time) refused to engage.

You're confusing "effort" with "Johnathon Banks' style". He sits back and, especially against Seth Mitchell, waits for an opening.

Ever seen Randall Bailey fight? He sits back and appears "not to be trying" and waits for an opportunity to land the right hand.

Don't tell me you also think Clottey-Pacquiao was also a "fix".

Either way fix or no fix it was an embarrassing performance from banks, you don't beat a glass chin by not going for the kill after you have him hurt early.

What about that stiff jab that Mitchell landed while Banks was moving to his R. It landed flush while JB was flatfooted and it buckled his legs.

Think it was the 4th or so. From that point, JB seemed all to content to sit back and lay traps....traps that Mitchell was wise to avoid.

Pretty sad though watching one of, if not the strongest HW power puncher potshotting and going backwards everytime Banks advanced.:-(

How do you even get to compare Clottey-Pacquiao to what happened here
In that case we had someone pushed into defense by constant attacks , and in this case.... we have Mitchell that looked clueless after getting hurt real bad and Banks did nothing for 8 rounds (I don't know if he threw 30 punches really) even though there was nothing bothering him.

I think it was a fix. Banks may have gone for it in the third, I don't know. I feel like if I was throwing a fight and the obvious opportunity for a KO came up, I'd take it and just throw the next fight. Could be what we saw in rd 3. "Yo sorry Wlad, dude just sucked so bad I KO'd him by accident, what you want me to do, not go for him when he's half out like that? Everyone would know."

Fact is Banks was definitely looking to counter, but I don't think he was looking to win. Randall Bailey isn't a valid comparison because Bailey has a punch and that's it. Banks can outbox the younger man because he has much ore skill, so I doubt his plan was to go in and wait for one big counter. Besides, he had plenty of counter opportunities and didn't take them. I think he let Mitchell off the hook numerous times and the whole thing resembled a mismatched sparring session. Banks went in to do enough to lose and I think even he was surprised how tough Mitchell made that for him. There were MANY times in that fight where it looked like it would have been so much easier on Banks if he would just punch, but he refused. I think it's one of the more obviously thrown fights.
