Nah. Close but clear for Broner. Quality & percentage > quantity...although lots of rounds were close with Paulie keeping the disparity so large...
Who has Ricky fought Billy? Try answering the question? You've ducked the top fights again and secured a fight against Beltran. WOW.
I had Broner by a couple of rounds, but it was very close. I have sympathy with Paulie though. The 117 scorecard, Rafael's, Lillis's and the Showtime team's were all really unfair IMO. If you're going to base your scoring on you preconceived notions of the two fighters, what's the point in having the fight? Surely you take every fight on its own merits? Paulie landed a lot but seemed to get deducted credit for the fact past performances say he can't punch, whereas because Broner has been taking guys out any punch he lands is treated like a bomb. Neither fighter looked particularly hurt at any point, so I don't see the need for such a massive distinction in what the two fighters need to do to win.
Forget the score-card's, Broner should have been deducted 1 point and probably 2 points.. That knee killed Pauli's zap and momentum.
Close score card... Just based on maliggnagi won early rounds clearly on being more active and outworking broner. It meant he clearly landed more scoring punches per round. Broner would land one big punch in the last 30 seconds of each round and tries to steal rounds like that with his main activity coming in the last 30 seconds of each round. broner wins on my scorecard 115-113. But he clearly he shpuld've had at least one point deducted for the kick. Maybe another for the elbow and constant kidney punching - you could clearly hear his corner tell him to go for the kidney shots and he was constantly doing it. Overall Broner is nowhere near the skill level of Mayweather. so those comparisons need to stop
9-3 Broner. Gave Paulie the 1st 3 out of 4 rounds and then the rest to Broner. Paulie shots were doing nothing. Broner should of been deducted 2 points.
HUGE Paulie fan over here and I loathe Broner. Take away the fact that the fight shouldn't have happened in the first place with Broner not proving himself at WW and the fact that everyone says Paulie has no power. Fact is it was a close fight with Paulies work rate vs Broners more effective shots. If Paulie moved more or even moved his head he would have looked even better but dont forget Broner's knee, elbow, punch after a "clean" break and repeated kidney shots. Yet not ONE point was taken off him. Unless Paulie knocked him out (which wouldn't have happened), stopped him on a cut (unlikely) or did a calzaghe/lacey on him he wouldnt get the decision. To me this fight further showed the clear advantage the more "politically connected fighter" has and that Mayweather would school Broner if they were ever to face each other.
Sound like it was close, usually the hometown fighter gets the nod so maybe Broner is protected...I havent seen the fight but split decisions usually go in favour of the home fighter.. Boxing stinks...always has done. I dont even know why It's called a sport...
Well, first she was on the left...and then she was on the right. :yep larrybrownsports.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/06/jessica-corazon-paulie-malignaggi-adrien-broner.jpg
Ok people seem to have split opinions on who actually won the fight. If Broner had of been deducted for the knee, the elbow and the punches he threw while he had his back to Paulie the fight would have been Paulies by a couple of rounds. Its harsh to say their was a hidden agenda but seemed to me that no matter how well Paulie fought he was gonna lose that fight and I think he knew that deep down himself. Politics are a ***** but thats the nature of the sport.
Broner was always getting this decision, he didn't do a lot to deserve it but he DID land the harder more effective punches and I think the fight was correctly scored to him 115-113. The commentary team were incredibly biased though, they only ever gave credit for the one or two decent punches a round that Broner would throw and totally negated to ever credit Paulie for his work rate. In a way though Broner loses despite winning as the performance was pretty dire and he really didn't live up to the hype, whereas Paulie gets sympathy for a brave performance and the tide being set against him. Paulie v Judah in a Brooklyn show down makes sense as neither have anywhere to go from here.....
Broner won the fight,Paulie won the moral high ground.....if only he could punch! If I was Ricky I would certainly fancy my chances against Broner.
