Paul Malignaggi dismissed Adrien Broner, who took his WBA welterweight title with a split decision, during the post-fight presser for their Showtime-televised fight in Brooklyn. "I don't think he did enough to take my title," said Malignaggi, who added that Broner pales in comparison to Miguel Cotto and Amir Khan. "And he's not the type of talent who can carry the sport. I'm 32. If I had the legs of a 25-year-old Paul Malignaggi he wouldn't have beat me."

Paulie's right. What Malignaggi is is a top contender kind of fighter who may grab a title here or there, but is the kind of fighter a champion-caliber talent with P4P hype should dismantle. No disrespect intended for Malignaggi, who's probably overachieved for someone with as little punching power as he's got.

That's not saying Broner's a terrible fighter or anything of the sort- just terribly overhyped.

Prime Paulie would have been able to keep up what he did in the first 5 or 6 rounds for the whole fight and clearly beat broner. This was a shot Paulie who pushed broner close and on a lot of people's cards actually beat him, mine included. Hatton, cotto, khan >>>> broner

You have to put things in perspective though, Broner's only 23 and jumped up 2 weight classes to get that WBA title. Maybe the guy's power isn't gonna be an asset at welterweight after all, but give him a bit more experience and he might settle there reigning for years to come...

Time will tell anyways. For the time being, I'd like him to stay at 140lbs and try to completely conquer that division first.

At what point was Paulie running? See the Khan fight, he has him running and everyone could see clear as day that Broner was still the bigger man

You do have to put these things into perspective

    - Khan was only 23 and he was against a younger faster version of Paulie
    - Broner may have jumped 2 weight classes but he was still the bigger man and was fighting a guy with Strawweight power and he avoided a lot of dangerous fighters
    - You can't put anything into Paulie winning the WBA title, he beat Senchenko for the title and Senchenko bought the title plus Paulie is coming off a gift over Cano- a man who either side lost to dinosaurs Morales and Mosley

He beat him easier than Cotto did but not Khan. In the interview Paulie acknowledged Hatton beat him easily but he believes he beat himself more in that fight whereas he didn't think he'd be able to beat Khan or Cotto at any given point

He won a few rounds against Khan and while he was well beaten he was atleast competitive, against Ricky apart from the first round he lost every second of the fight..

Wrong- he lost every single round against Khan on all 3 scorecards- plus he never complained about the stoppage to Amir while he sacked his trainer for stopping the Hatton fight
