With Maidana recently calling out Broner I thought the question needs to be asked. I know the level of opposition was different, with Maidana campaigning against Alexander, and Broner with Malinaggi, but who had the better debut at 147. While Broner won against Malinaggi and Maidana lost to Alexander, the answer would seem to be clearly Broner, but Maidana fought a tougher opponent in Alexander, and Broner didn't do quite as well against Malinaggi as many people thought (me being one of them), though he did win. Thoughts.
Maidana was awful vs Devon, Broner won a close fight with an average perfromance. Maidana vs Broner is still a good fight though.
Maidana lost a lopsided sided decision, Broner won a clear cut decision. The answer seems pretty simple.
The majority of the judges, fans, and ringside observers had Broner winning. That was a clear cut win. I doubt many people would be interested in a rematch.
Well about 65% but still hardly clear cut. Stop making up facts to protect Broner. And I think Broner, GBP and his clueless fans would be much more interested in a rematch than fighting someone properly dangerous like Matthysse.
Of course Broner, many picked Maidana to beat Devon (including myself). Malignaggi looked better than expected but he still lost, while Maidana lost every round he fought.
So superior that many people jumped off his bandwagon because of his performances against Kotelnik and Matthysse, so they picked Maidana because of his power (including myself).
Why is Schaefer saying that he and everyone around him had Broner winning by a wide margin if he was interested in a rematch? Why is Broner talking about going to 140 if he's interested in rematching Paulie? Broner wasn't overly impressive, but he clearly won. It would seem that the people claiming Pauilie won or that it was toss up bout are the ones who want to see a rematch.
Read the whole thing and answer. You can't just take one part out of context. You say Schaefer wants a rematch, yet Scahefer is saying Broner won a wide decision. Saying one guy clearly won is not a good way to drum up interest for a rematch.
I was shocked at how Maidana performed in that fight. He was too focused on trying to box more and fight less. Broner looked much better in this comparison.:smoke
