that would definitely be a dangerous thing to do when all angles are looked at. Jones wouldn't be pushing Hearns on the back foot where he'd be at a disadvantage because Roy didn't do that. he stayed centre ring or moved off the back foot. Hearns had a very long reach. Hearns had big power. Jones had a jaw made of glass. if it really came down to it, would you out your life on the line? nah... i pick Hearns but i wouldn't even come close to putting my life up.
i'd of picked Jones to win the rematch, but that still doesn't excuse Jones for it not happening. 50/50 was fair considering what Hopkins had achieved by that point. the win over Trinidad was big and made him a force in and around his weight class. Jones denying Hopkins because he priced himself out (which Jones did a lot of) doesn't cut it for me. a win for Jones would have done his legacy the world of good. had Jones of offered the 50/50, and Hopkins still bawked at the idea, then you can call it a duck.
You just refuse to take any information on board. Why do you keep banging on about what Hopkins achieved?? Roy had achieved more. He'd won titles at 160, 168 and was the unified 175 champ. Hopkins hadn't achieved more than Roy. Roy had ALREADY beaten Hopkins in 93. It didn't make a difference if it was 9 years earlier, or 90 years earlier, it still happened. Roy wasn't going to give 50/50 to someone who he'd beaten BEFORE, and neither would Hopkins if he'd have been in the same position. You'd have to be an idiot to believe that Hopkins would have given Roy 50/50 if he'd have beaten Roy in 93. It would never have happened! Roy was looking to go up to heavy in 2002. He wasn't going to lose muscle to fight a guy who he'd beaten for 50/50. Why can't you see that?? Moving down in weight is a HUGE sacrifice, when there's no body fat to lose. By the way, if you've seen the famous argument on HBO, amazingly Hopkins initially wanted MORE than Roy, that's how deluded he was. Go and watch it on YouTube. Hopkins says "Roy Jones can't EXPECT to get MORE than Bernard Hopkins after the tournament!" Ha! What the ****? Hopkins was more deluded than what you are!
I see the Jones Jr freaks are out in force again on this thread. That steroid cheating, ducking peice of **** is not fit to be mentioned in the same book as Tommy Hearns, never mind a thread. Tommy outboxed the master boxer for 12 rounds, until Leonard knowing Tommy was killing himself to make 147 dug in and turned it into a brawl. Anyone who thinks the dog fighting scum was in Leonards league is nothing more than an idiot fanboy, and desrves to be ridiculed. Toomy terrifies the coward with the jab, then Ko's him anytime after the 8th.
I really would.. Hearns can't hang with Jones' speed and power. Roy knocks him out early, I know this.:yep
For an American hating fellow you sure have bad grammar. Are American haters not supposed to be literate scholars and gentlemen? In nearly every post of yours you are bashing "yanks," I have Tennessean back woods hillbilly cousins that can spell better than you.:deal
so you'd be happy to have someone put a gun to your head on this fight?? Roy wins, you're free to go. but if Hearns wins, then BANG!!... no you wouldn't. look at the speed and skill of Leonard? that wasn't enough to knock Tommy out early. can't see Jones doing it either. i can see Tommy going forward and keeping Jones at length for a bit, then lining a bomb up and taking him out cold with one shot. :yep
Roy Jones was just as fast as Leonard, but much larger and hit much harder... Hearns goes out my friend, and I respect Tommy, he is one of my favorites.
assasin, Its funny you picked a gun to rule my fate of the outcome of this head to head fight.. I was thinking more along the lines of a burning at the steak, or drowning in a puddle of another person's vomit.:rofl:good
