AUS title lost all substance - JAMES BEARD

    His 4 opponents he has fought have a combined record of 26 wins 96 losses, he won the Vacant AUS Super Middleweight title by fighting Aswin Cabuy whom was on an 8 fight loosing streak.

    How on earth does NSW boxing allow the sanction of an AUS title fight with an opponent who has lost their past 8 fights? What happen to the days when you had to earn the right to fight for an AUS title?

    in amateur boxing you wouldnt see a guy whos lost his past 8 fights going in for an AUS title, it has to be earned so why have NSW boxing diluted the sport so much and what once was a prestigious title to win is no more than a title that is up for the taking to the person paying for that right. Shouldnt there be a criteria for opponents or can a person whos fighting for the AUS title hand pick any dud to fight against?

    its sht like this that ruins the sport of boxing in AUS. :twisted:

    should have wrote state title, my bad.

    It dont matter how much notice mate, he still wasnt going to win. How can they sanction this rubbish when the guys lost his past 8 fights? they should have just given the other guy the title, its meaningless when guys can fight duds for a state title.

    With State titles, one needs to show fair bit of flexibility. At the same time as I can recall promoter Nasari had all sorts of problems with the show – No end to pull outs....day in day out.

    Is there no criteria for fighting for a state title? one would imagine opponents would atleast not be eligalbe if they have had a string of losses.

    Contest Requirements:



    1. Combat Sports Authority of NSW approval
    2. Payment of $300.00 sanction fee (includes belt where required)
    3. Current Australian State government registration
    4. Minimum State residence of three months
    5. Minimum of 6 x 3 round experience

    dam, they need to tighten up the rules a little and put some legitmacy back into state titles.

    Nope! He retired @ end of 3rd. Was scheduled to fight @ Miller last Friday, but didn't eventuate. Didn't score suspension on retirement.

    yeah i think state titles are a bit different no doubt but still some of the blokes fighting for them , i think its still not on . i guess it depends on whos promoting and whos the guy getting the shot at the title . certain promotors could put whoever they want on for a state title and it would be all ok

    Maybe it's time boxers, trainers, promoters should lodge formal opinion re State titles with their respective regulating body?
    I for one, fail to understand how a Kiwi, Bananabender etc qualifies to contest Victorian State title?
