to tell you the truth, Ward's best W's are Kessler and Froch. Calzaghe beat Kessler in his prime, regarding Froch. Honestly i am a big Cobra fan, but i just feel Calzaghe would be too much for Froch. I am not hating on Ward, i think skill wise he is one of the best today, but i am not so convinced in him against an ATG in Calzaghe. Ward likes to adapt, but Calzaghe would just keep on coming and let's be real no way Wards keeps Calzaghe of him for 12 rounds. Calzaghe's stamina makes Andre's stamina look below decent, it would be a question whether he can stop Calzaghe from coming in and i don't feel that he's got the power to earn Calzaghe's respect. I do question Ward's ability when he is pressured, Froch ended strong and toke the later rounds. Calzaghe would just keep coming at him and hit him with flurries. But with that said, if Calzaghe or Ward had a decent or bad camp, they would come up short.

I think Calz is a great fighter and he beats his opponent by work rate since he's constantly throwing punches. The fact that Bernard lost only by a split decision tells me that a fundamental boxer can give Calz a lot of trouble. If Bernard was 35 yrs old I believe he probably would of pulled it off but that's a whole another topic. Now Calz fans claiming he can beat Ward with a decent training camp is ridiculous because Ward would give Calz all sorts of problems and people keep forgetting that Ward can fight in the inside so Calz would have his hand full. I think it would be a good matchup to be honest and the fight can go either way but if I had to pick it would be Ward by a close UD.

That's your own opinion and I don't see anyone beating Ward at his weight division at all and the kid is only getting better. CalZ only beat a 40 yrs Bernard by a split decision !!!! What does that tell you and even got dropped by him !!! What do you think Calz can do against Ward ? Ward is probably the second most fundamental fighter after Mayweather and look what he did in the Super 6 !!! A guy that was not the favorite to win the tournament end up beating all the best super 6 contenders in that weight class !!! Calz is a great fighter and I take nothing away from him but to say he would whup Ward only with a decent training camp is absurd !!!

Swarm him with activity. Ward is less powerful version of Hopkins and Super Joe won against Hops by at least 4 rounds..Ok. Ill admit...Joe would need a good camp lol

It tells us that Calzaghe didn't have one-punch KO power - big shock there - that he couldn't stop a fighter who has never been stopped - the only times Hopkins hasn't made the final bell and without winning was when Mills Lane accidentally pushed him out of the ring against Robert Allen and when Dawson fouled him, both resulting in NC's - and that a man rated one place behind him in the pound-4-pound ratings and considered the greatest Light Heavyweight in the world prior to the fight was fully worthy of such accolades, was capable of troubling him and making it a very close fight.

That asside, any fighter can be dropped by anyone. After all, Ward got dropped by Darnell Boone but most people wouldn't say that's proof of Ward's lack of ability. So I still remain baffled by this obsession with fighters being dropped somehow being more important than whether or not they recover from it.

Now, I think Calzaghe's been out of the game too long to come back even half as good as he was regardless of what kind of training camp he had, so I'm fully on your side as far as how I think a hypothetical match up between the current Ward and a returning Calzaghe would go, but you can't use the Hopkins fight to prove that Ward would beat Calzaghe. Hopkins was still an elite level fighter at the time, in the top five p4p list, and was a tricky opponent for anyone, and the fact that he was able to trouble Calzaghe in a close and difficult to score fight should not be a slight against Calzaghe's abilities but proof of the quality that Hopkins still had, and so it should be regarded as a great win for Calzaghe and not fodder for his detractors to use against him.

I don't have an obsession with J Cal at all.

Someone started a stupid thread, so I'm just going along with it. This isn't a Leonard coming back against a slow old Hagler, this is a guy in his 40's coming back against the new kid on the block. Pure idiocy.

That said I firmly believe if Calzaghe had been active and entered the super 6 he'd have won it.

He found a way to win. If the other guy wanted to fight, fine, he'd fight. If they wanted to box that suited him even better. He ridiculed Jones, and Hopkins was forced to try to get the ref to help him, because he had no answer for Calzaghe's MO.

The big pansy trying to create the imprssion JC was dirty, when no one else ever had. Hopkins = fvcking joke.

I think you should seriously consider following table tennis, as you simply have no fvcking idea about boxing.

Ward can't knock out bent gear. He has a poor stoppage rate. Absolutely nothing about him suggests he could KO Calzaghe.

If Ward faught the same guys that Calzaghe faught he would have a better KO rate.

Plus if Ward played table tennis against Calzaghe he would fcuk him up in that too.:D:deal
