Do people really think Ward vs Bute would be a foregone conclusion?

if it's based on the Bute after the Froch fight, then i go for Ward. Bute might just be finished mentally.

I agree. A pre-Froch Bute would have given Ward a good go, though, win or lose. I always thought Bute had a much better chance versus Ward than Froch.

Has Ward defended outside of America in a world title fight?
Bute in world title fights fought in Canada, Romania and England.
Tell me what top undefeated fighters has Ward fought in world title fights?
You are right though, I think Ward missed his chance

I think Bute looked very dangerous, he hadnt shown much weakness except late against Andrade, other than that he looked very good
    Interesting post.
Boone looked unfortunate to me, not to get the decision and you are right, a rusty Bika pushed Ward

I felt Bute would have been the favourite pre Froch. Now we will have to see how he gets on

Yes. Ward would beat up Bute over 12 rounds assuming Bute makes it to the end of the fight.

the version of Bute after Froch had had his his fun? yeah, i'd favour Ward on a clear points decision. Bute would take a few rounds though.

the version of Bute before Froch? Ward was scared for a reason. if he was truly confident of beating him, he would have taken the fight and got all the credit if he came out on top. but he didn't, that tells you a lot. :deal

Styles do make fights and we know Bute real colors now since he was up against a live opponent who doesn't back down and was able to fight back and look what happen. I'm talking about the undefeated IBF champions getting blown away and this was the guy that espn ranked as number 2 SMW at the time in the tournament. The guy can fight there's no question about that but i don't how anyone can see this guy beating Ward. I don't blame Ward also for not fighting him since this guy was on the sideline throughout the whole tournament fights nobodies and all of sudden he want's to fight the guy who won the tournament? How can anyone agree with this?

I heard that Ward has really good power in his left hand. Next with his crafty style, insane footwork and his pin-point accuracy I think he has really good chances to stop Bute but as many people say: styles make fights ...

Often wondered the same thing Bailey. As you say Ward lacks both the power and chin of The Cobra, not to mention the aggression and stamina. Lets just say there was a reason Ward wanted nothing to do with Bootay :deal

I think it would have been a close fight before Froch punished Bute, now we cannot even be sure Bute has much left. But it did seem as though Ward and his team didn't really fancy the fight when it was on the table.

The Brits hate for Ward is comical. Very entertaining.

What Bute really had going for him versus Ward prior to the Froch fight was the perception that his combination of speed, skill, and power would have presented trouble for Ward, as Ward would have difficulty outboxing him and difficulty getting inside on him. However, the Froch fight exposed at least that Bute is not fast enough to stop Ward from coming inside on him, and once you get inside on Bute, he doesn't have any defense, just covers up poorly and eats shots. Ward obviously doesn't possess the power of Froch, but Bute doesn't have the chin/toughness to take the kind of punishment Ward would be giving him on the inside round after round. He would have folded in a one-sided affair.

Ward couldn't take a fight after Froch, he had a busted hand. Then he ended up having shoulder surgery after that. That's why he has been inactive you know?

    Scared of Bute? GTFOH.

What the **** had Bute done to jump to the front of the line for a shot at Ward? Nothing. And after his fight with Froch, it's even more laughable to suggest Ward was "scared" of Bute after whipping Froch and winning the Super 6. What was Bute doing during that time? Fighting cab drivers in Canada..... Please. Bute got DESTROYED by the SECOND BEST guy in the division who got totally outboxed and outclassed by Ward.

Yea, Bute had a hell of a shot... (rolling eyes)
