    Exactly:lol::lol:

    Michael Nunn avoided Lindell Holmes like the plague and Lindell smashed up Hearns, Toney and Jones in the gym. So he came to England and got battered like never before by Chris.

    Michael Nunn avoided Gerald McClellan like the plague and Gerald smashed up Hearns and Toney in the gym and Jones in '88. So he came to England and got battered like never before by Nigel.

    :lol::lol::lol:

    atberry,

    Roy had only just moved up a gear in 92, after he'd signed with HBO. Jorge Castro was Roy's biggest fight at that point.

    Roy only fought ONCE at 160 in 4 fights, after Hopkins. He boxed guys like Malinga as high as 167.

    Not heard that before.

    Why would Roy have wanted to have fought Eubank at that point? He was at 175 with the WBC belt, and he'd got Griffin and Hill in his sights.

    What are you talking about? Who was Joe in 2002? A WBO holder who fought in a DIFFERENT division. Who was going to pay to bring Roy over to the U.K. and for what? That wasn't a big fight outside of Europe. Joe was unknown at the time. There was nothing in it for Roy. He ended up fighting for the WBA HW title instead for $17M.

    Also, the size of the crowd means very little. The money is made via the PPV.

    Joe fought Kessler in front of 50,000 in Cardiff.

    That wasn't a big fight outside of Europe. Kessler was unknown to the American's.

    Earlier in the same year, Oscar fought Floyd in the biggest grossing fight of all time, in front of just 16,000 fans.

    atberry,

    Why wouldn't Jones want to fight Calzaghe in Wales? Perhaps it had to do with Roy being the #1 P4P fighter in the world, had already been robbed in the Olympics over seas, and had probably seen some of those Calzaghe highlight reels of completely disgraceful stoppages. He was honestly afraid he wouldn't get a fair shake, and rightly so.

    My question is, why didn't Calzaghe want to come dethrone the Champ? He always had it in his plans to fight in America, why not when Roy was relevant? He was fine with it after Roy had been knocked out twice...

    I think he knew his limitations, and wasn't chasing Roy Jones, just as he said.

    But is the one who made the comment about not wanting tough fights? There is your answer.:lol::patsch

    Always pointing the finger at Roy for a fight not happening, even when the other guy made comments about not wanting it. Give me a break.

    If Jones wanted a challenge, he'd have fought the best fighter out there in the mid-to-late 90s/early 2000s, Calzaghe. Like when Robinson wanted a challenge he fought LaMotta who was in a different weight-class, Hagler fought Hearns...Nunn and Kalambay fought eachother. The v.best fighters did that, you see, regardless of money.

    Yes, he certainly looked shot to ****, didn't he!:lol:

    Lindell was on-fire in that Eubank fight, sweeping the early rounds and catching Chris with some incredible shots through to the later rounds! He and Toney had been sparring since Christmas, for their Eubank & Barkley fights respectively, and word has it that you couldn't seperate them in any round of any day - and this was Toney at his absolute peak (better than Jones).

    Calzaghe was a ****ing nobody in the 90's/early 2000's, and in 1999 he said "I'm not chasing Roy Jones, I don't want tough fights."

    The American fans had only seen him a handful of times against Thornberry, Starie and McIntyre.

    You're either trolling for some fun, or you haven't got a clue.

    Which one is it?

    As if the worlds best fighter who fought at 175, was going to go out of his way to fight a WBO belt holder from Europe, who fought in a DIFFERENT division?

    Joe was only in the spotlight after Lacy in 2006.

    Nobody outside of Europe knew who he was in the 90's.

    While Roy was unifying with Reggie Johnson in 99, Joe was struggling with Robin Reid.

    You're having a laugh!

    Of course he was shot to **** he was 36 years old, lost to one of the worst world champions in history by late knockout (which Eubank Couldn't do by the way), as for the Eubank fight, yes he started off good but he started to slow down by the fifth and only had one fight afterwards against a bum which he lost. He was shot :yep

    Wrong, Bernard Hopkins was the next best fighter for Jones to fight at that time.. Would have been a way bigger fight.. Roy wanted it, but Bernard priced himself out.

    You think Toney was better than Jones, even though Roy PROVED otherwise in the ring.. You really don't have a ****ing clue who the best fighters are. In the late 90's and early 2000's, what had Joe done to prove he was the best fighter in the world? He was not thought of in Hopkins' and Jones' league at that point.

    Either you are trolling, or you are one delusional old coot.:lol::rofl

    He must be just having some fun with us Mind?

    He can't be serious with some of the things he's said.

    You're right about Hopkins, and it's also worth noting that the year prior to that in 2001, Roy's team and HBO tried to make the DM fight. Also, late in 2001, Roy had talks with Evander just prior to his fight with Ruiz. So Roy was looking to challenge himself.
