Just curious about what fighters walk around weights are per each division. i know it has to be an avergare number since some lose more than others (ie chavez jr)
JCC Jr walks around at 185-190 PBF around 155-152 Broner around 155 Berto around 165 Canelo around 175
There really is no such thing. You can't average out something varying so much by individual. You can present a range of known weights during time off, but you'd be wrong to point to a mean, median or mode of that range as being an indicator at what someone in a division is "supposed" to walk around. For instance, it would neither be normative for a middleweight to rehydrate to a mere 167 like Martinez or a whopping 181 like Chavez Jr. However, you can't just average them out and say "Middleweights should rehydrate to 174", either. Likewise, a welterweight like Mayweather adding barely anything overnight isn't the norm and neither is someone like Margarito bulking way up. The midpoint between them isn't either. It just is what it is from one boxer to another.
Of the current top welters I can't think of any. Most of the highly ranked guys now made their names in lighter divisions before moving up. (Mayweather and Broner obtaining their first world titles at super feather; Guerrero and Marquez at feather; Bradley, Alexander, Khan, Bailey, Malignaggi and Maidana at light welter; Mosley at lightweight; Pacquiao at flyweight...) Of the non-champs, Provodnikov was at 140 for a long time and became known there. Brook, Vargas, and van Heerden are probably the only top-ranked guys who are longtime/career welters that hadn't already established themselves in a lighter division. I doubt any of them gets up to 174. Even Berto with his thick frame caps off in the upper 160's. Abregu and Thurman might be close. They're both very large.
can we make a list? heavtweight- 200+ obviously this is where the weight is gonna range the most. cruiserweight- 220? lightheavy- 190s? supermidle- 170s? midleweight- low 170s? superwelter- 160s? welter high 150s? light welter- low 150s? lightweigh- mid 140s? superfeather- low 140s high 130s? feather- low 130s superbatam- high 120s batamweight- mid 120s super fly ??? flyweight?? minimun ?? thoughts?
for SMW I know froch walks around about 175, but Ward is around 180 a little over. Kessler walks around at about 185+.
I agree with IB above, it's essentially meaningless, but for what it's worth. Golovkin came to camp at around 167 for Macklin, I recall 164 being mentioned for an earlier camp, but the implication was both are kinda low for a MW to walk at (hence how he should be able to weigh at 154 if necessary).
For what it is worth Joe Calzaghe used to weigh 14 stone when not training, which I think is 196, but for years hit 168 for weigh ins.
Thats what i thought. Donaire looked huge conpated to him. Also remember an interview with rigo were he mentioned he was already at 122 weeks before the fight
