To put things in perspective, on the link below there is a list of fighters who were on the 45 man ballot for voting:

    http://www.bwaa.org/ibhof.htm

Out of those, Gatti, Hill and Yuh were inducted this year, which frees up a few spaces.

If you are not on the ballot, there is obviously no chance of getting inducted. The likes of Trinidad, De La Hoya and Calzaghe will become eligible in the next couple of years (barring an ill-advised comeback), and will most likely ease in as first-balloters.

This doesn't leave a lot of room for Benn and Eubank to even get on the "short" list of 45, never mind get inducted. Leaving any personal opinions about their worthiness to one side, the fact of the matter is that there is virtually no chance of either of them getting inducted anytime soon.

From a British perspective, there's some comfort in that Hamed is one of the strongest candidates on the ballot and will probably get in there in the next few years.

36? Try 35 Einstein. And remind me, how old was Calzaghe 'in 2006 after the Lacy fight'? And how old is Bernard Hopkins. How old is Floyd? How old was Jones when he fought Ruiz? How old was McCallum when he fought Toney? And so on.....

Lindell was knocked out by Darrin Van Horn? When?? He went to one knee from a body shot, though it was more to do with exhaustion, and stood up before 10 - he was winning the fight, though Van Horn was kind of out-working him at times.

Lindell retired due to an eye injury sustained in that last fight (Emebe, who he already beat twice as an amateur incidentally) - so I'm guessing, that had something to do with this infamous boxrec stoppage.

Calzaghe was better than Hopkins. And sorry, but Bernard was unknown in the late 90s/2000.

Roy jones would have beaten tyson, Holyfield post 1995

Tyson had no chance against roy...

No one in boxing history had a chance against jones at his own weight class

Only Lennox Lewis in the hw division coulda beaten jones

Nunn, Benn, Kalambay, Hagler, Eubank, McClellan all beat Jones. All by KO apart from Nunn and Kalambay, who out-box and out-point him.

You have lost your mind. You underrate Jones dramatically, and anything you say about him can't be taken seriously.

Roy didn't pay Brad Jacobs to meet with Kerry Davis just to have dinner.

It was DM and his team who turned down the double header.

It was DM who turned down $5M to instead fight De Grandis and Hall for $1-1.5M.

It was DM's promoter who was never available to negotiate. Davis was under huge pressure to deliver HBO the fight, and he couldn't even get Kohl on the phone. Now what does that say? Poor Dariusz who was unfairly stripped of his titles, had a chance to get them back, but his promoter wasn't interested. Ha! I wonder why that was?

DM was happy to defend his WBO belt in Germany.

Where were guys like Harding and Tarver on his resume?

He was happy fighting Roy's left overs.

Go and look at his resume. Go and boxrec it now. It tells you exactly what his intentions were.

Dude, you think Toney was better than Jones Jr.. That speaks volumes .. Your opinion on the quality of a fighter means nothing to me.

It is obvious you wont give Jones a fair judgement no matter what, not even when he proves it in the ring.

    Hi mate,

How well known was Joe in America in the late 90's/early 00's?

When was the first time you saw him? Can you remember?

I had no idea who he was then, I mostly followed Roy and Lennox at the time, I don't think I heard of him until the Lacy fight.. I have many casual fan friends who still don't know who he is.

There would have been many Americans wondering why they had to pay PPV to watch Roy beat up on some guy with a weird name.
