Two wrongs don't make a right. I've never watched a full Ward fight, not really interested in seeing them to be honest. If Ward is just a lame cheater that gets by from relying on lenient referees then eff him.

Similarly you have to write off Hattons win VS Tzyu since it was just complete bull****. Taking that into account then the Castillo win becomes Hattons biggest victory and with that in mind then Hatton surely was and is an overrated fighter.

 

Vince Phillips and Ray Olivera? Vince was just looking for a little crack money at the time, my grandma could have stopped him. Ray Olivera was 36 years old and had 9!!!! losses on his record at the time..... you must also be into that crack stuff and looking for credits to buy yourself some more.

Beating a game unproven fighter like Luis Collazo is no big accomplishment and unifying a title against a paper champion isn't either.

He gave a good showing against Floyd you say? Getting himself knocked out? Better than 95% of his opponents... I beg to differ.

This is a problem with the sport of boxing, people picking their Hero's for questionable reasons and then hyping them and defending them as if there was no tomorrow in spite of obvious facts.

Maybe in your next post you'll talk about how much credit Hatton deserves for winning against lets say Mark Ramsey.... after all, nobody had ever stopped Mark as early and decisively as Hatton did right?

 

This is BS. You are trying to justify the usage of illegal punches in bunches that injured a fighter so badly that he was unable to continue boxing. This referee was receiving his commission from Hattons promoter and the fight was being held in Hattons home country and for one reason or other the referee just decided to look the other way and let the hometown fighter do what ever he wanted.

But where is all of this going to end exactly? We see referees behaving obviously corrupt time and time again. Considering the extremes that we've seen so far in how lenient referees are to many home town fighters it's just a matter of time before we see a referee in a boxing match actually look the other way when a fighter steps into the ring without gloves or utilizes kicks to defeat his opponent. The way that filthy money is damaging the integrity of referees in boxing is just horrible really. Boxers spend alot of time and energy preparing for fights and they do so hoping to receive a fair shake inside the squared circle. When a referee behaves dishonestly he's simply stealing from the fighter, in this case the actions of the referee didn't only cost his victim in a financial way but he also cost him his health.

How would you like it if someone were to take any of your stuff or to cause you permanent life changing injury?

It certainly is a boxing match not ballet but the marquess of queensberry rules apply regarding boxing matches and if a referee does not do his job in order to apply those rules then there's simply no reason to have the rules or the referee and thereby it wouldn't be boxing no more.

 

Right. Kosta was P4P #3 when they fought. Forget Floyd/manny, Hatton was the lineal champ at LWW for a solid 4 yrs. Its pure hatred. The guy is HOF cert.

If anything Hatton is underrated, especially on this forum.

 

Hatton knew he was no match for Floyd Mayweather or for Manny for that matter but he saw the dollar signs, those were bright and shiny so why not get yourself knocked out for some $$$?

Hatton didn't earn his fight VS Tzyu and didn't really win that fight either, he didn't earn the right to fight Mayweather by any means and he certainly didn't earn a right to fight Manny.

Ricky Hatton's exactly as good as I think he is.

 

I never thought Hatton was rated all that high. He was a pretty good fighter. He did beat way overrated Kostya Tszyu. Hattons draw back was his weak skin.

 

Hatton did not beat Kostya Tzyu. The referee and Frank ****** did. If you want to argue otherwise then take your time to re-watch the entire fight. How can anyone claim that Hatton was the better fighter in there in light of those dozens of shots to the back of the head, it's just stupid plain and simple.

Hatton Lost to Kostya Tzyu. Hattons biggest win was against Castillo who had 7 losses on his record at that time.
