Yes folks. The ESB MMA section has been buzzing on fever pitch as Matrix time draws closer.

Now a lot of folk are giving Weed Man a decent shot at winning this, but when Anderson feels challenged, he ups his level and enters the Matrix. I hope he feels suitable challenged by the Weed Man and we see the best of the pound for pound greatest fighter on the planet.

I give Weed Man zero chance, as i do all Anderson opponents. He is just on another level from everyone else (Jonathon "Bone" Jones the sole exception in either 185/205)

Here's hoping for another terrifying performance from Anderson, and then a showdown with the brutal monster that is Jonathon :deal

Weidman has a chance. It's pretty obvious that Anderson can be taken down. I still feel that Chael set the blueprint on how to beat Anderson. It just takes consistency. I believe that Weidman has that consistency. But a HUGE part of why Chael was able to successfully bring Anderson down is the he just didn't care. He wasn't scared at all. He just didn't give a f*ck. He wasn't afraid to close the distance.

Anderson has a way of hypnotizing people. They know what he's capable of on the feet, so people are afraid. It's that hesitance that causes a lot of false attacks that open them up for counters. It leads to non committal strikes that open them up. And it keeps grapplers from wanting to close the distance. And that's honestly what I think will happen to Weidman. Sonnen's lost before so he's not afraid. He's more afraid of not trying than getting KO'd. Weidman's never lost. I think he'll be afraid of getting KO'd. It will make him very hesitant on the feet. And that's a problem for him. Every fight starts on the feet. And the longer he stays there, the more the fight stays in Anderson's world.

If Weidman wins, I won't be surprised, I'll be impressed. But I have Anderson winning this.

Weidman is a can, Silva will crush him with ease.

Sooner or later Anderson's age is gonna catch up with him, and when it does, people will be shocked. Hell if it can happen to Fedor it can, (and will) happen to him.

Anderson is a beast off his back. Its not as simple as taking him down. Once you got him there you got to be able to use it. Sonnen could do NOTHING in the second fight. Anderson just tied him up and punished him with some bony elbows. Sonnen was rendered useless from top position. Is Weidman really all thatbetter from top position then Chael?

(The first Sonnen fight Anderson was injured and i buy that excuse as he looked a different animal entirely)

great post. Well done. Agree on the FEAR part. Silva just does not blink when things get rough, MOST DO naturally. Silva HANGs in the danger zone for that split second longer than the other guy and remains CALM, COOL and COLLECTED multitasking away processing the angles with confidence making sound striking choices while the other guys for the most part become mentally and physically LIMITED. That said I see Silva as far more beatable than the aura that has created around him. If Chael can give him the problems he gave him, well he is beatable if he comes up against a dude that knows his own limits as well as Silva's. Whether that's Weidman or not I have no clue.

Yes. Ask Roger Gracie. Roger says Weidman is good enough to maybe even submit him in an MMA match. With very limited sub grappling experience he made it all the way to ADCC and gave guys problems. He is that much better than Chael. Will it be enough? I don't think so. I see Anderson picking him apart on the feet and forcing him to shoot sloppily. It's a winnable fight for Weidman if he fights a flawless fight. Not likely against Anderson who MAKES you make mistakes. We'll see.

Thanks man. I'm an old head when it comes to MMA. I love the sweet science, but as a big fan of martial arts (and the movie Bloodsport, haha), the first UFC has had me hooked since 94. Like I said, I love boxing, but I KNOW MMA much better.

Awesome. You should start posting on here regular, the old regular posters have been banned and had to re-locate elsewhere.

Still nice to see a few regulars up here x

Silva had it coming for a long time with his stupid, clown-like shenanigans.
Im surprised to see that he managed to last so much years without getting KTFO.

Great fighter, but **** him, i lost any respect for him after the Demian Maya shitfest.
