Some of the things you've been typing this week has been crazy.

    Desperately struggling with Hopkins?

He had a hairline fracture of his right wrist, but he didn't desperately struggle. Hopkins didn't lose for another 12 years, and he said just prior to their rematch, that Roy was only person to have beaten him clean, with no controversy.

McCallum was a great fighter, and Roy didn't step on the gas.

Griffin was on the verge of getting knocked out in the first fight, and we know what happened in the rematch.

He struggled to land on Toney? What fight did you watch?

Tony Thornton? Who he knocked out in three rounds?

Struggled with Malinga? Who was knocked out in 6?

Harding gave him something to think about, but he didn't cause Roy MAJOR problems.

Roy fought Tarver after 50 fights, and after losing around 10 pounds of muscle at 35. He also wasn't up for the fight mentally, because the Tyson fight had fallen through.

What would have happened if Roy had've fought him pre Ruiz, with a great camp, and he'd have been fresher and more motivated?

I agree that Michael Nunn was a great fighter.

When did he knock out Thornton? That was a BS stoppage against the ropes, Thornton was holding his shoulder and the referee intervened - but only 5-10% of the 25-punch combination Jones threw at Thornton actually landed:lol:

Jones couldn't open Malinga up or land anything at all, and had to resort to feints to feint him out of position and jump in from across the ring with some barroom left uppercut.

Jones himself has said he struggled to land cleanly on Toney, especially early on.

Michael Nunn for me was not a great fighter. More of a great, GREAT talent.

It was a TKO, which would have ended in a KO.

Malinga was a good fighter. What's a bar room left uppercut? Ha!

    It was a good finish.

Roy had an easy night with Toney.

I remember the Merqui Sosa stoppage. Merqui wasn't hurt, but there was nothing coming back. Do you remember it? When he pushed the ref?

Sosa was tough. He used to spar with Eubank and McCallum in New York before he turned pro and give them hell. (Eubank and McCallum never sparred eachother)

Sosa's fights with Charles Williams were brutal. Well worth a look if anyone hasn't seen them.

    Yes they were wars! :D

Horrible technique, Sosa... but awkwardly effective and hard as nails. Would love to have seen him fight Iran Barkley or Steve Collins!

'If you offered me a million pounds to fight in Madison Square Garden against Iran Barkley or the Latin American, Merqui Sosa, I would turn it down unless they were #1 contender.

'The risk of having to end them to stop them would be too high.'

Roy was once asked who his toughest opponent was, and he said it was Merqui.

    That ref was lucky.

Because he's the most exciting fighter ever and a two-time British world champion with 10 world title defenses against the likes of Barkley, Eubank and McClellan, winning both world titles in opponents backyards.
