Haters will call him "exposed". Also, if he does knock macklin out early they will just call macklin a euro bum even though he is a top 10 MW in all rankings.

    :patsch

You have a point. But if ggg loses all that hype and how everyone ducked him will make him look bad, true or not.:think

Real boxing fans will give the credit.:deal

Im expecting this fight to end in the 8th round with GGG turning it up in the 6th. Macklin is a decent opponent however and I wouldnt be surprised if this went into the championship rounds but im pretty confident of a Golovkin Stoppage win

I picked Golovkin to stop Ishida in the 10th and then in the 3rd round he landed that monster of a shot that sent Ishida (Who had been the distance with big hitters like Paul Williams, Dmitry Pirog and destroyed James Kirkland in 1 round) stopping him for the first time in his career and I hope im wrong but I dont think he will be the same fighter after that KO

This is a big step up for Golovkin but he has shown he has the amateur pedigree beating Dirrell, Bute, Lee and Despaigne and is one of the few very good Amateur fighters who have seemingly adapted to the pro ranks very well.

Even if this fight goes the distance, it will depend on how Golovkin handles Macklin rather than just be able to knock him out. He will have to show he can out jab him, control center ring, his combinations and handspeed and hopefully wont have to test his chin although if he does get hit and takes it well that would be a plus and also cutting of the ring : these are the things that will prove how well rounded of a fighter Golovkin is and thus far he has impressed me a lot since i first saw him fight (Lajuan Simon)

Its just funny to me the only people to go the distance with Golovkin have been two algerians and a canadian

I disagree. No more than the usual ESB banter, at least.

Macklin has everyone's respect as a middle tier top 10 MW. A stoppage or near shutout decision over him is mighty impressive. The thread title is a bit extreme. To struggle a little with Macklin wouldn't mean anything in terms of making the victory look less than quite impressive, but it could perhaps change how people view GGG against the top MW's. Macklin is head and shoulders better than Golovkin's best previous foe, so struggling with him might indicate his dominance at the top won't be as revolutionary as many feel he will be. If you can't judge a fighter based on one outing than why is everyone, rightfully so, worried about Bradley?

GGG has to impress in this one. It is essentially a gateway fight onto bigger things for him. A sluggish performance or loss would be very damaging. There tends to be very little room for error when in a position similar to Golovkin's.

Macklin is no pushover, the idiots who will claim GGG was exposed are underrating him badly, the guy gave Sturm and Martinez a run for their money (was actually robbed in Germany vs Sturm), give him some credit

And his fans will excuse any underperformance by declaring him deathly sick. It's a miracle he's able to fight at all given the tragic illnesses he suffered against Ouma and Rosado.

I do think GGG is overhyped at the moment. We have to judge him based on his next few fights against "legit" 160 lb fighters. Macklin is no walk in the park and gave Sergio Martinez good fight so we'll see.

I like Macklin and as you pointed out he is not an easy fighter to box:think
I still have V Cash on GGG but I got this going past 9 and I could be wrong:smoke

I also had to bet a little on Macklin in case the judges go ******ed and he makes it to the end:smoke

I have a feeling Macks gonna want to prove something and take it to the champ. Nobody expects him to be so reckless and stand in the wheelhouse of GGG so he might have some early success. GGG will probably wondering "WTF!? hes guud boy and stands wit me?!" but once he adjusts, expect a mid 5-9 ko:bbb
