Loads of debate on here about crolla getting a shot at burns that is providing Ricky beats beltranNow admittedly he hasn't beaten any other international quality fighters but I'm not against this fight at all I love to watch domestic dust ups,great atmosphere,good press coverage etc everything that makes a big fight As for whether crollas deserving well I thought he beat Rees,look at Rees frustration and body language during the fight it seems he knew himself that crolla had pulled it off.i also thought he won the Derry Matthews rematch So he has proved at this level he is a good 12 round fighter who can compete with the best at domestic level and above(Rees) If there's no Crawford or vazquez on the horizon then why not and its better than Liam Walsh or that Peuto rican lad they had lined up and you can add an old Nicky cook to that list as well
If somehow burns cannot fight for other titles for whatever reason then why not, I take burns to win within 6 rounds as he is much better and stronger than crolla.
This is my point I want to see unification fights and unlike some don't believe everything Hearn does is a good idea but as a boxing fan I would watch the fight with interest and don't think crolla is overmatched.just think of some previous world title challengers,lee purdy for one who is in one of the deepest divisions was overmatched Burns crolla would be a decent lively fight and that's what I want
Great fight last night,two excellent boxers.But I don't think Anthony has earned a world title shot just on the strength of this.Maybe after a couple of wins against good opposition.There must be more deserving challengers for Ricky,plus possible unifications.But Im sure this fight will happen,probably early next year.
Eddie Hearn was talking about Ricky maybe fighting on the Froch undercard in November/December. That being the case I might be for it IF its seen as just another run out for Ricky to help build momentum and IF its followed by a unification fight in Glasgow or the Crawford fight in the US as the next fight. If they genuinely try to push it as a good defence then its an absolute joke. Although i like him Crolla shouldn't be anywhere near Burns realistically. And if they have it in Scotland headlining then I'm not going. If VVarren was talking about this he'd get slated.
Wrong on so, so many levels. Unification fights. Not domestic fights is what Burns should be fighting in.

Christ, allegedly was slated for the Liam Walsh fight, at least he is untested rather than having been life and death half a dozen times domestically. Does anyone else think that Rees has been drastically overrated since winning a couple of rounds v Broner? To me that showed Broner's limitations but somehow most gave Rees credibility as a world title challenger. He ain't that good so a win against him most definitely doesn't put you on track for a shot at a title, Crolla will have to do a lot more to convince me that he he is worthy of being in with Ricky. Would like to see him at least take on a ranked opponent to see whether he is anywhere near world level

Am I the only one who thinks crolla gives burns more problems than Rees The way crolla fought last night is the way burns would of fought Rees only he would of been more dominant Burns likes fighters coming forward swinging at him as he has good footwork and defence and will pick holes when he can like Martinez and katsidis but now he is facing a boxer who can fight to a gameplan effectively At least Ricky will be made to think by crolla,I think Rees would of been easy pickings for burns
Well there is the consensus that Crolla is caught between weights, can't make SFW but seems a little shaky at LW - Burns is big for a LW. For the record I don't think Burns would have fought Rees in the same way, Crolla was mainly on the back foot.. Burns would have stood his ground more.
Ricky has seemed more aggressive recently starting with the Mitchell win It's exciting and he punches harder than given credit for but he does leave himself open more this way and come a unification fight I would like to see the tactically astute and technically tight burns
