What fight were you watching? Broner blocked, rolled, slipped a lot of Paulies punches. Paulie wasn't landing punches that made me think that he even came close to winning.

Paulie didn't outwork Broner and he didn't kick Paulie. Paulie tried to scoop him to stop him from punching, and naturally you try to keep your balance when both of your legs are almost picked up. Imo Paulie never hurt Broner with any of those body shots. He told Paulie all night you can't hit me, and kept coming forward.

Had Paulie stood his ground and threw those punches, that is something different. He kept backing up, and he hardly landed anything to the head of Broner. To say Paulie won or outworked Broner also says that I'm glad that you're not a fight judge-no offense.

The closest I could score the fight was 8-4 for Broner so I agree 100% with Atlas. Anyone that scores that fight for Malignani just doesn't know sht about boxing or is a hater.

No offence taken dude. What fight were you watching? Broner did not roll and did not slip, nor has he in his previous fights! At best he leant away occasionally from some of the shots, the majority of shots he "blocked" were when Paulie hit his arms and shoulders.
Broner fought tried to act the tough guy and was flat footed and was clearly outworked. I agree Paulie didn't hurt him but neither did he hurt Paulie. So then he has to outscore and outwork him or display better ring generalship. You appear to be scoring on that point against Paulie for "backing up" and "not standing his ground" and scoring for Broner "coming forward". Difference is, light punches or not, Paulie BOXED on the back foot. He never just ran. You don't score a round to a fighter just cause he walks forward. He's gotta be lateral, slip under shots and counter, parry or feint etc, like his boy Floyd.
And stating that Broner was "trying to keep his balance" and never kicked Paulie in the slats in round 2 shows a slighlty delusional OTT love for AB.:hi:

I doubt very seriously Atlas even took the time and scored the fight with pen and paper.

If you look at the fight without jotting down your score after each round, Broner pretty easily won almost every round past the 6th, and so you're going to be inclined to have in your mind that Broner took it handily.

If you scored with pen and paper from the beggining, then you're going to find yourself scoring round after round of the first 5 to Malignaggi.

Looking at the fight as a whole, Broner landed the more telling punches.
The problem is he did'nt land most of those telling punches in the first 5 rounds, and the few he did in those early rounds were trumped by Malignaggi's activity as he was scoring to both head and body of Broner.

Teddy Atlas did not score that fight.

117-111 is a better score than 115-113 Malignaggi imo

There are a lot of valid post in this forum but ultimately the only judging criterion that you can score in favor of Malinaggi is workrate. You can't really give him the nod in ring generalship, because at no point in the fight did he look like he controlled the ring or the pace, you can't give him the nod in effective punching because his punches had no offensive effect, at best Paulie's punches MAY have nulified a little of Broner's offense. Defensively Broner used his arms, shoulders and slight head movement, while Paulie used his legs, which leaves a bad impression on the judges (was he running or trying to create angles). In fact, Broner came forward the whole fight which gives the impression of a fighter who's in control, even if he may have been getting outworked.

If you're not throwing punches and your opponent is, it does'nt matter who's going foward or back, the guy who's punching is controlling the action.

Only a moron would credit Broner for being the Ring General while fistically he does nothing while Malignaggi gets off punches!

Antonio Margarito was coming foward all night against Manny Pacquiao, are you going to tell us Margarito was the Ring General??? :nut:lol:

    @Divac

You might want to work on your comprehension skills, I said it gives the IMPRESSION of a fighter who is in control.

At NO point in the fight was Paulie in control, you can't fight going backwards, and if the punches you are throwing have no EFFECT what-so-ever, you can't be credited for them. Even with an amateur scoring system the punches have to land with effect, and PUlie's had none.

The difference in the Pacquiao vs Margarito fight was, Pacs punches obviously had an EFFECT (to the tune of a broken orbital in Margarito's face, big difference).

How long have you been a boxing fan?

Obviously you dont know much about the sport.

What I highlighted is erroneous on your part. WTF! :nut:lol:

I have news for you. In amatuer scoring if fighter A lands two punches that have no effect on fighter B.
In turn fighter B lands just one punch in the whole round and scores a solid knockdown with that shot.

Amatuer scoring rules say fighter A wins that round.

Thats amatuer scoring. Power is'nt taken into account. Its all about landing a punch even if its doing zero damage.
