Golovkin would've made short work of Tito.

Hopkins would beat him now, never mind in 2001

I'd love to see that fight.

It's hard to forecast a winner; Golovkin has obviously never fought anyone on Hopkins level, but Hopkins also never beat anyone as good as Golovkin. It would be an epic matchup between two master technicians.

BHop all day. Golovkin is very good no doubt but the defense of Hopkins is too much for GGG to overcome in this case. GGG has crunching power but would not be able to deliver it on BHop, while Hopkins would be landing short counters consistently on him coming in, particularly the short right hand.

Hopkins did beat people who were at least in paper as good if not better than Golovkin - Trinidad, Dela Hoya, Antonio Tarver, Winky Wright...

let's not rush things, we still have to see how far GGG can go, so far he has looked amazing, time will tell if he really is as good as he look he is.

    On paper, yes.

In the ring, Golovkin is a combination of power and technical skill that the Middleweight division hasn't seen in a long, long time. He's a very efficient fighter.

If Golovkin fought the way one typically sees out of a power puncher, I'd go with Hopkins all day long. B-hop's money against sluggers who fight sloppy and fall in love with their power, and he's made a great living taking those guys apart; in Golovkin, the challenge is unique because of GGG's sound fundamentals, precision, offensive variety, and short, compact punching power.

The reason I love that fight so much is that it'd be an elite defensive middleweight (with a good offensive game) against an elite offensive middleweight (with a good defensive game).

I truly hope that HBO is now behind Golovkin enough to get him the bigger fights so he can continue to prove himself. It's not often I hype guys before the resume warrants it, but GGG's been an exception for me for years now. Forget the armchair schmucks like me; I think if Golovkin gets the opportunity, he'll continue to prove why boxing people inside the sport think so highly of him.

That's taking nothing away at all from Hopkins, who was indeed a great HOF middleweight.

Hopkins has proven the ability to take a lhw's punch.

prime 160 Hopkins beats ggg because he has the better skillset and would be considerably bigger on fight night.

could be a winky/Hopkins type fight.

Hopkins never beat anyone as good as Golovkin??? My god Golovkin never faced anyone half as good as Hopkins. Hopkins would slice Golovkins easy to cut skin up and my him quit

if this fight were to be made at 170 I would be betting Hopkins.

ggg is a small mw. he could probably make 154 without compromising much.

he could arguably be the jmw and mw champion.

in fact that's probably what going to happen.

Yes, Hopkins has never beaten anyone as good in the ring as Golovkin. Fortunately, I don't type with a stutter. :good
