Against the odds of being born with glass hands, raised in Wales surrounded by bullies, and having a musician for a trainer, Zaggers achieved the impossible.

C'mon Turbo, Yeah Toney is shot to **** but he got mad skills. Slappy will wait until James is blind in one eye and can't see out of the other (even then I give Toney the edge:D)

Its a troll post that I could split into a thousand pieces and dismantle with consummate ease but why waste my time with a troll, I'm here to debate with posters who are serious fight fans delivering in depth cutting edge analysis via the use of mouth-wateringly delicious scientific facts :deal

In hindsight I agree, a Froch win would sit better on the resume, only a hater wouldn't understand the reason why Calzaghe went and fought Hopkins at that time though rather than Froch who basically was seen as another limited domestic opponent when Calzaghe would have received the exact same criticism he had always received for fighting Froch at that time - eg, fighting at home, not moving up weight, not fighting the p4p best, fighting unproven domestic opponents over mandatorys like veit etc.

I agree with your assessment on Froch though, hindsight has shown us that defeat wouldn't have ruined Froch, In hindsight Froch has shown he is made of the right stuff and is one of the most respected figures in boxing today.

In what way is the following list of Toney fights at 168 better than what Calzaghe was fighting?

    - govoner chavers 9-3-1

    - ricky thomas 11-9-1

    - glen thomas 24-1-0

    - danny garcia 25-9-0

    - larry prather 10-10-0

    - tony thornton 35-5-1

    - anthony hembrick 27-4-1

    - tim littles 24-0-0

    - vinson durham 11-6-1

    - charles williams 36-5-2

The ironic thing about your troll post is that Manfredo would belong in the top 5 fighters Toney ever fought during his 168 reign :rofl

And on top of that, Toney was a steroid riddled joke, an absolute disgrace to the sport of boxing :deal

Maybe, but Calzaghe beat all the top americans in his era at 168, maybe he should have moved up earlier but lets not forget he offered Hopkins a career high payday to fight him in America in 2002. Hopkins chose to fight Hakkar for a fifth of the money instead.

I agree, Hopkins was the better fight at the time, who was ring Champ at 175.. No brainer. A win over Froch would look great as well right now though, at the time, not so much.

I think Joe pulled out with hand injury against him but not sure? Its pretty bad though when haterz want to throw mud at Calzaghe insisting he ducked Woods and Johnson.

In England, Woods was seen as the definition of a limited plodder who made the absolute maximum of his ability, he is less regarded than the likes of Reid and Woodhall, anyone who thinks that Woods could have beaten Calzaghe is living in a complete dream world imo, that bout has complete shutout written all over. The only reason Woods seems to receive any recognition on here over fighters like Woodhall is because he fought the hugely overated Americans based fighters on the HBO scene like Tarver and Johnson.

As for Johnson, Calzaghe did pull out of fights 3 times with injury against him so I understand the reason haterz like to discuss him. If i'm not mistaken, Calzaghe had agreed to take on the winner of the Johnson v Sheika fight and Calzaghe ended up beating the victor in Sheika.

Like I say, I understand the haterz criticising for Johnson but when you look at how Johnson has faired at 168 it is almost laughable to think he would have beat Joe, Johnson was basically passed around like a punchbag in the 168 division, he ended up moving up to the weaker 175 division to try and make a name for himself in the overated, American friendly market.
