Hagler had a great chin but he never fought anyone with GGG's power.

haggler two fisted, toughest, best balance (southpaw and orthodox), best chin, best accuracy i've seen from a middleweight.

he was also surprisingly fast (except for the sugar ray debacle).

i'll give genady the benefit of a doubt and say this, why don't we ask this question again in, say, five years time, after he's fought a handful of guys way better than ishida or macklin.

I've been around this sport long enough to know that fighters from past era's tend to be held in very high esteem and that current fighters are consistenly questioned about their greatness. Golovkin would be a more than worthy challenger to ANY middle ever. I remember when lots of people questioned Marciano's ability and Ali's ability and many others. It was after they retired that they became almost universally accepted as great fighters. My feeling is that Golovkin is already a great fighter and in a match with Hagler, he would be the winner. I take nothing away from Hagler. I respected him and his skills. I just believe that Golovkin has the skills and power and intenstinal fortitude to win.

Get this crap outta here. I like GGG alot. But to say "he already a great fighter" is just stupid talk. Did he become a great fighter by beating the likes of Rosado and Macklin? :patsch Just cause someone eats those type of C level fighter proves nothing. Get off the high. GGG is good. He beats Sergio right now for sure. But to say he beats a beast like Hagler is a different story.

It is not just the power of Golovkins punches, it's the way he puts his punches together. Hagler fought guys like Mugabi and Hearns that punched perhaps even harder that Golovkin but they were not as strong as him and did not put their punches together as well and have his accuracy. If Hearns were as strong and durable as Golovkin, he may well have beaten Hagler. Hearns, remember, was really a welterweight.

Based on what do you say GGG has a good chin??? And even if GGG could take Haglers punches what makes you think his skin would hold up for 12 rounds??? GGG skin looks weak and it will cut easy. GGG has Gatti type skin and we all know how easy he cut.

He is not already a great fighter because of who he has beaten. He is great because of the way he beat them and the skills he has shown. 350 amateur fights with 5 losses. 27 and 0 as a pro with 24 ko's and 14 ko's in a row.

Man Hearns would beat Golovkins ass. Man you guys are not boxing fans at all. Golovkin beat a goddame tomato can and you make him out like he is as good as great fighters like Hagler. Its all about skin color thats what it is.
