I wouldn't favor either at 160 over GGG.

Oscar's record at MW was 1-0, and it should've been 0-1 because he didn't beat Sturm. His total MW record: 1-1. Should've been 0-2.

Tito's record at the weight going in to the Hopkins fight was 1-0 with a win over Joppy. His total MW record: 3-2.

Oscar and Tito were great Welterweights that were too stretched out at 160. Bernard got a ton of mileage off of their name value, but they weren't great Middleweights.

    Hopkins.
I like what I have seen of Golovkin, but he has yet to beat a real top MW and I dont think this era is as strong as the era that had Holmes, Joppy, Hopkins, Echoles, Eastman, Krajnc, Daniels, Cherifi, Simon and co.
I dont think Golovkin would just steam role over 2001 versions of Hopkins, Eastman, Simon, Holmes, yet in this era I wouldnt be shocked if he KOd any of the current top MWs.

I think Hopkins would hit Golovkin and then hold, hold Golovkin to prevent him punching and then hold and hit when up close circling away from Golovkins big shots. I think Hopkins would maul alot. I think Golovkin would struggle to land the big shot on the much bigger fighter who would drain him with the stronger mauling style that Hopkins can adopt.
I think Hopkins wears Golovkin down as the fight goes on.
Remember Golovkin is not a big MW and Hopkins turned pro weighing inside the CW limit and was a massive MW that had to be very disciplined most of the time to make the weight.
Hopkins seemed to handle smaller fighters. It was the fast two handed fighters the same size as Hopkins, that Hopkins seemed to struggle with, like Jones, Taylor twice, Calzaghe, Pascal twice.
I think Hopkins either wins late on or clearly on points.
Maybe in a while when we see Golovkin move on in his career and fight some of the top names around his division, we may see another side to him and my opinion may change

Overall DLH was better than GGG, so far Tito is as well.

Those versions were not as good as GGG but still pretty good wins.

    LMAO @ this question.

GGG would have ZERO chance of beating a prime Hop.

My God the hype over Golovkin has now reached stupid, delusional levels. Hopkins is regarded as a top 10 middleweight of all time, some would have him in the top 5 of all time, yet Golovkin who has beaten such fantastic opposition like Macklin, Ouma and Proska and not even beaten the top middleweight in his own division is now capable of beating an ATG like Hopkins?

Golovkin may look fantastic so far but compared to Hopkins he's a novice. He really hasn't achieved anything yet to suggest he could beat Hopkins.

Tito was seen as a skilled boxer with devastating KO power as well but when he stepped up and faced elite level boxers like Hopkins and Wright he was schooled and his flaws were exposed for everyone to see. This may or may not happen to Golovkin he simply hasn't faced anyone on a level to suggest if he is the real deal or not and expose any weaknesses because everyone he has faced lacks the style or skills to expose any possible flaws.

So at this moment in time based upon what we have seen Hopkins would have to be a huge favourite over Golovkin. Hopkins has faced numerous different styles and skills, faster guys, bigger guys, opponents who hit harder and beaten them, Golovkin has so far only shown he can beat guys who stand in front of him.

I like Golovkin he's clearly very good but it's way too early to start matching him up against ATG's when he is still only a title holder in his own division and yet to prove he is even the best middleweight now.

Golovkin as a pro is a aggressive plodder and boxers like b-hop and ward school him all day.

You mean Tito, who went 3-2 at Middleweight and fought Hopkins in his 2nd fight at the weight?

Or the Roy Jones who beat Hopkins when they fought at Middleweight?

My post stated that Hopkins didn't defeat anyone as good as Golovkin. I stand by that comment. Hopkins wasn't a welterweight facing 147 pound versions of Tito or Oscar; he fought them at 160, where Golovkin would've iced them as well.

Hard fight to pick as we havent seen Golovkins weaknesses

Golovkins balance footwork power and punch variety all seem very good

he is great at applying pressure but while being defensively responsible

Hopkins is Hopkins but Golovkin might have the tools we will never know

a GGG Ward fight would help bring us a more definitive answer

Golovkin looks to have a monster upside, so the best answer is probably just wait and see how things play out and then maybe bring up this match once we know a bit more. If you want to go just by what we know now, well, then there's absolutely no reason not to pick Hopkins.

This is a question for a few years from now. GGG never fought a breed like Hopkins. Not even close. A prime Hopkins is a tricky task for anyone at world class. GGG-De La Hoya is a better fight for NOW (Pick GGG) or even Golovkin-Trinidad (The good boy). On paper there isn't much evidence to back a Golovkin win over Hopkins -- or even fishnets/Tito for that matter!
