Which is exactly what I said in the opening post.

Good grief, if you're going to have poor manners, at least show an ounce of reading comprehension and razz me for the right reasons.

    :good

I'm not one for picking winners in hypothetical/imaginary match ups, and Nard has a knack of proving the doubters wrong, but anyone using his win over DLH should go watch the DLH Sturm fight for proof of how poor DLH was at the weight.I'd pick macklin to beat that version of DLH.
Still early days for GGG, but he certainly looks the part. He doesn't waste many puches, has good technical ability and seems able to pull the trigger at the right moment.

Hopkins throws himself on the ground and quits with an injury. Then everyone calls him a G with crafty boxing skills.

Hopkins also has the proven ability to be knocked down by middleweights. Also, he wouldn't be considerably bigger on fight night - 5 pounds at most.

Id have to see more of GGG vs high quality opposition.....

Right now I think Hopkins would have won a decision.

Going back to what the OP said, I'll use Hopkins' record from the end of 2001.

    Hopkins
    Overall record: 40-2-1
    Title defenses: 14 IBF
    Age: 36
Ranked fighters defeated: Trinidad, Keith Holmes, John David Jackson, Echols, Mercado, Allen, Vanderpool

    GGG
    Overall record: 27-0
    Title defenses: 7 WBA
    Ranked fighters defeated: Macklin, Proksa

Hopkins has the resume edge one would expect out of an older champion whose had more title fights, but looking at the list of ranked fighters defeated proves my point that neither man fought one as good as the other.

Golovkin would have walked through Hopkin's shots. Hopkins is seriously overrated.

that Hopkins is one of the best fighters ever. Triple G is in no way beating him. That Hopkins IMO had a legit chance of beating Roy or making it interesting. Triple G wouldve got killed by Roy. He's good but his style is ready made for Hopkins who at that point was a physical beast with smarts and defense

Personally I think it would be a close ugly fight with Hopkins touching the canvas once or twice and GGG winning a close majority decision . . . . unless of course god forbid he knocks the indestructible hopkins out . . . . . yup

Taylor was more athletic, better jab, quicker and faster than Golovkin.
Hopkins always has had problems with speed guys that have skill......Jones, Taylor, Calzaghe.

Lightheavyweight Chad Dawson was quicker and faster than Hopkins and so Hopkins got beat again.

As somebody has allready mentioned, we have'nt seen Golovkin against a grade A fighter yet. Only a moron would pick him off of what we've seen over Middleweight Bernard Hopkins.
