He'd give about five cliches about being in the sport to be in the big fights... but then add that it's all down to his promoter at the end of the day and he'll fight whoever is put in front of him. Ricky's a world champion with a solid fanbase and so is perfectly placed to take charge of his own career if he wanted to. If he's ever going to unify titles and beat world champions, the time is now. Otherwise he'll end up squandering his prime fighting in glorified British title fights.
I'm suprised how anyone has a bad word to say about Ricky Burns. Come on leaps and bounds puts 100% effort in, never gets into any slagging matches. The man comes across as a really genuine bloke. (and i'm English, all be it from the North ) As for Crolla, another good guy but it's all about leagues and he isn't in Rickys. Abril would be a tough fight Billy. Absolutely bossed Rios and was robbed, would be a good fight though.
Billy's the reason he gets criticism. Tells us he's the best LW in the world then they match him up against Beltran. Ridiculous. I've no idea how he can tell us all that Burns is better than Gamboa with a straight face.
To be fair to Billy though, its clearly not upto him who Ricky fights. He has an opinion on fighters etc like we all do, but as he makes himself accesible to fans on here he gets the brunt of the frustration we (fans) have with Rickys opponents. Your sounding off on the wrong guy.
Abril fought Bogere for a ****ing title, did you give him **** for that? No, even though Beltran beat Bogere pretty clearly IMO, but money talks and they had to keep that 0 because Bogere is more marketable than Beltran, who is a hell of a tough fighter for anyone to beat these days, Beltran is not a bad fight at all, one of the top LWs around without a doubt
I dont get the Crolla fight at all...I like Crolla but dont see how he's warranted a shot. Ricky's in his prime he really should be toughing it out with the best boys in the division.
