Don't see why that would be a issue though.

Everybody wants to make more money.

Absolutely mate. The beauty is its usually englishmen/non irishmen who get wound up about your nationality and demand an explanation as to why you embrace your irish heritage. Good for you

Nice guy, strong brummy accent, + Irish image doesn't work. It's about as fashionable as Marvin Hagler's shorts & socks.

He's not Irish, he's of Irish descent.

He's Irish when he's getting his arse handed to him and British when he's successful .

Macklin's always came over as a good lad. His parents are Irish so he's obviously got a strong affinity there, what's wrong with that? I also think he's a proud Brummie.
I like the fact he went out into the big bad boxing world and was prepared to test himself against the best, whereas he could have stayed at home like some do and be protected.

Why should we support him when he has no pride in being an Englishman?

Because nationality should not be a criteria for rooting or not for a fighter.

    Of course it should.

I support any British fighter when they are up against a foreign opponent. It's the way it should be.

Macklin is a ***** whose chose to dedicate himself to Ireland as it would have a greater appeal to the American market.

Having pride in where you come from does not make you a xenophobic racist, contrary to popular belief.

i dont think its the british/irish thing that puts people off i think its the whole 'ive got an american promotor... HBO love me, i was the only non champion on some poster' and he seems to be the biggest stumblin block with makin the big domestic scraps as well and seems to look down his nose at the likes of barker and murray
be funny to see if barker wins a title to see how long it takes for macklin to call him out
i dont mind macklin i use to be a bigger fan, but his attitude in the past couple of years kinda puts you off abit, esp as hes come up short 3 diff times
