The first tier: Ali, Louis The second tier: Marciano, Holmes, Lewis, Foreman The third tier: Frazier, Tyson, Holyfield, Dempsey, Johnson, Liston, Charles, Wlad, Jeffries
Recent times I've thought about it, he winds up at or around #8. Below Jeffries and Holmes, that's for sure. Ahead of Tyson and Frazier. It all depends on how you value the era.
i think Dempsey is best because the boxers those days were a lot tougher and the way he made it as a fighter
Only problem 6 of those years were in the biggest ever World War, and Joe was doing little but exhibition fights. Ali / L. Lewis, take your pick.
Come on really? Its clearly ali. Frazier, foreman, norton, patterson, liston? Come on. And everybody thought foreman would destroy ali but yet ali not only beat foreman by ko forenan.
Jack Johnson. To do what he did during the height of the Jim Crow era. And to live the lifestyle he did! Ali's a close second because of how he lived his life; i.e., refusing to go to Vietnam and his religious views/stances.
