Very surprised if this was on a undercard.

  3. Why golden boy get the highest possible audience they can for fan friendly fighters who can put on a show
If as expected its a barnburner then more people follow these guys careers or maybe even rematch

    Maximum exposure for exciting boxers

What % of people do you think who were planning to buy the fight would back out if the under card was poor ginger?

    Yes, very good point:thumbsup

  6. Yeah I understand your point, the answer is very low
But I'm just posting the rumours from other sites generated by journalists in America
If the fight happens at all I'm happy if it happens on this bill then that's exceptional
My point was the casual fan who only watches one fight a year might be attracted to boxing again or Lucas matthysse one assumes
Apparently golden boy have been giving the big one about how it's going to be a top class bill so considering the money this fight will generate a undercard bout such as this is not a problem financially
Also mares who was the support attraction on mayweather Guerrero won't be fighting so they need an alternative

I agree with everything you've said, but it would be a big surprise to me if it happened. The fight itself should be a pretty big event without need to make it an under card fight.

Your logic and reasoning is sound however they could put on an horrific under card and people will still tune in sadly! I also don't know how many casuals truly watch under card fights. If you are a casual it would suggest you watch boxing now and again so are you like to watch lots of fights in a row? Not sure.

    Irrelevent.

It will be the biggest PPV of the year and guarentees exposure on the largest platform for two of Golden Boys better fighters who don't have a big fanbase of their own. The idea being that if these fans that normally only tune in for Canelo or Floyd may like what they see from the other two and then tune into Mattyhsse or Garcia's next fights, thus improving the fighters marketability in the long run.

It's got 0% to do with the number of PPV buys this fight would generate in addition to those buying for Canelo/Floyd. I can't believe anyone would even consider this as a reason for putting the fight on that undercard.

As I said in a previous post, how many casuals do you expect will sit and watch a whole under card of boxing?

I agree it would definitely increase their exposure, but I think by how much is being over-estimated myself.

Most I know watch the co-main as they don't want to miss the main. So it would make complete sense to put an almost guarenteed barnburner on directly before Canelo/Floyd. Again its about maximum exposure, and increased marketability in the future. Also if the fight ends in brutal knockout it can serve as a build up to Floyds next fight if either are planning a venture upto 147.

It's not going to be on 4 hours before the main, it would be the co-main, directly before.

  12. Yeah potential for hyping a future opponent has to be in the promoters minds as well

I don't understand the point of it personally. Both fights would sell big so why not do them separately?

  14. But your happy yeah if it happens

I don't care if its one card less this year, golden boy will fill the hole and it will be a hell of a night

    So good for boxing
They might not be unifications in the strictest sense but if this is going ahead then in the last 12-18months we will have had
    Mares Moreno
    Rigondeux donaireTrout cotto
    Ward Dawson
    Ward froch
    Froch bute
    Marquez pacquiao
    Marquez Bradley
    Martinez Chavez jnr
    Alvarez trout
    Matthysse Peterson
    Froch Kessler
    Klitschko povetkin
    Mayweather Alvarez
    Matthysse Garcia
    And some I've forgotten

To get 2 fights of that stature on one bill is excellent
