Well, if you don't like the responses, perhaps you shouldn't have started the thread?

When you grow up, you might learn to accept that other people have opinions different to your own. You will know when you have grown up, because you will have learned how to accept other people's views without firing juvenile, offensive insults back at them.

By the way, your thinly veiled, barely disguised racism is highly offensive.

Rocky Marciano had enough punching power to put Joe Louis into permanent retirement. Fact.

Makes no difference at all. Marciano knocked out good opponents, if he was so shitty, someone should have knocked him out because he ducked no one. Walcott, Charles, Moore, Louis these were great fighters. I am more impressed with someone beating just the first 2 of that list than beating 72 no bodies like k2.
It doesn't matter if Marciano weighed just 188 pounds, the man had unbelievable punching power period. Had Marciano gained 30 pounds and weighed 218 it may not have even increased his punching power. Punching power comes from the explosive fast twitch muscle fibres that people like pitchers, tennis players etc have in their arms. These are not generally speaking bulky people. Some boxers like Frazier or Tyson or Ali are just naturally filled out for their size and will end up in these weights of 210-215. Marciano did not have a very deep amateur career and picked up boxing late so likely did not have time to build up as much white muscle fibres over the years. Anyone can go lift weights and get big muscles but you aren't going to punch hard with that. And that is what most of these modern day fat boxers are doing. Lifting weights, getting slower and fatter. All that size/weight means nothing, soft bodies that can't absorb a punch, red muscle fibres from weight lifting that break down so easy. I suspect Marciano would have a very easy time with modern heavyweights who rely so much on size, weight and height rather than actual boxing skill.

To beat a guy like marciano you have to make him miss and be elusive to the point he is hesitant to throw anything big. No modern heavyweight has this, they'd just eat up those punches.

Being big does help you absorb punches to an extent but getting hit clean on the face by marciano, vitali klitschko would not stand up to that. His face either tears up or he goes down. Marciano had the proper technique, an old school proper trainer and enough weight to knock a man out. He punches far above his weight. A guy who doesn't throw properly with perfect technique can be big with a featherfist and those guys are out there. They are the ones who are 6'7 and can't knock out guys who are 6'3

Why? He knocked out top contender Savold a few fights before he fought Rock...

And the fact that Sam Peter was a top contender and one of Wlads best wins says a lot about him , especially considering he almost knocked Wlad out.

What Red Cobra forgot you will never know. RC is a elite poster and you are a troll. I don't think it is in you to learn anything.

its funny the camel walks through the desert laughing at other camels and the 2 humps on their backs until he passes a stream and see's that he is a camel as well.

RR is an eagle and you are a hump

Marciano was HIMSELF what we would today call a cruiserweight, and he knocked out the guys in his time who were near his weight, who were at the time called HEAVYweights. So, he had punching power.

Furthermore, to suggest that because HWs at that time generally weighed less and that because Marciano fought these fighters who today would be called cruiserweights does not at all establish that he would have had no power against today's larger HWs. Ever hear of Jack Dempsey? I believe he weighed in the high 180s against a guy who weighted about 250, roughly the size of typical HWs today.

To suggest out of hand that Marciano couldn't knock out larger guys because typical HWs of his era were smaller is thus completely absurd, and counter-factual.

The more sophisticated analysts who favour the super heavyweights, don't question that Rocky Marcaino would have the power to knock guys like Lewis and Wlad out.

They just question the likelihood of him landing enough on them to do it.

:rofl Jesus ****ing Christ, are you by any chance that guy who writes that godawful Heavyweightblog? I can't believe how delusional you are to believe that this era is strong in any way, shape or form. Fighters like Povetkin and Fury would have been gatekeepers AT BEST in the 90s.
