I wonder how much credit Mike would be given (in retrospect, say nowadays) if he knocked George out? :think

none, but since foreman turned down 3 or so offers to fight tyson, 20 years later tyson ducked him, old foreman would knock him out ect ect. same foreman who went toe to toe with alex stewart and with all of foremans ungodly power still couldnt put stewart away, (the same stewart that tyson put away in a round) and foreman came out of that fight looking like a pumpkin..

None? I know he was venerable to be polite and defensively lacking to put it very graciously, but that chin is certified granite. Ali stopped him with at the very least 'hockey assists' belonging to Dundee and the 110° heat.

The comeback version in question was clouted by Briggs, Moorer, Cooney, Morrison, Rodrigues, and Cooper (all guys who can knock your average heavy clean out if they land flush) as well as loads of second-tier but high-KO-percentage fellas like Stewart, Ellis, Grimsley, Savarese and Fulilangi - and barely ever got shook up. Ironically, it was "little" Evander Holyfield who put the most visible hurting on him during that period and even there, Foreman basically served as just a walking punching bag for Holyfield and stayed up for twelve.

    Mike would get no credit?

Sure, there are reasons to downplay it as compared to Ali's stoppage two decades earlier (George's age relative to Mike's, his speed or lack thereof, his stylistic disadvantages of being probably more available for punishment than Mike had ever seen in a victim) but still. None is a bit unfair. One does not simply KO George Foreman.

yes, im by no means a foreman hater, and yes he did have a granite chin, but tyson these days doesnt seem to get much credit anywhere. what im saying really is, it would just be brushed off as foreman being old, fat. just like holmes, tyson was the only one to KO him and manhandle him the way he did. no one did it before or 10 years after.
i think after all the hype and him being over rated by lots, as in KO everyone in a round, people have gone the extreme other way, mainly people got pissed off of hearing it and just said he was hype ect, when ever anyone fought back he would crumble ect. and it became "fashionable" to go against the grain, to show your "boxing knowledge" of how tyson was just a bully ect. if you know what im trying to say?
i just think it would have found a way to be downplayed.

do you want me to put your toys back in your pram for you?
the point i was making is stewarts chin is not the best and foreman still couldnt put him away, yes he dropped him but couldnt finish him. the decision itself could have gone either way but george was on his way to a world title so he wasnt gonna lose.
i dont see why you should get angry on an internet forum that anonymous folk share there personal opinions.
you dont like my view, fair enough, but no need to throw your toys out the pram and act like a child....

why so angry at an anonamous mans personal view of a fight that took place over 20 years ago? does it bother you that foreman couldnt stop journeyman stewart? you need to go get out more if your getting that angry on the internet.
may i suggest you go for a walk in the park, maybe have an ice cream if its a nice day?
maybe even talk to a real person and have a meaningful conversation with them.
go to a bar, if your old enough for a drink, see if you can meet a girl to lose you virginity to...

    as always just my suggestions......

Exactly, everyone would just say Foreman was washed up.

Holmes was apparently washed up when Tyson demolished him, yet Larry went on to perform well against top opposition, and was never KOd in his entire career before or since Tyson.

It would, but would it be given?

If Tyson had beat Holy in 96, i highly doubt anyone here would have given him much credit.

    Tyson ****s old foreman up
