His last prime fight was against JMM. Since then he's slipped. With that said he's still good enough to beat everyone in the sport 154 and down.
I say 50% of his prime is gone because he fights nothing like he did when he beat Chico. Floyd's mental make up may be higher than it ever has been, but no he doesn't dance anymore, doesn't land most of his jabs like he used to, but he still lands, and he stays on the ropes more when he used to stand center ring from rounds 8-12. Floyd is aging like fine wine though. But the facts are he has lost something, but he's also gained something invaluable.
His fight with Oscar and Hatton was only 2 years after Gatti. He was still prime, maybe not prime weightclass but still prime as per youth and speed and reflex's. That's like me saying Oscar at welterweight wasn't prime either. His prime weight was lightweight, but his prime last through both classes.
Prime is now!!!!! Don't go by his age. He does not have any wear. I measure his prime as a balance between, physical, boxing intelligence, confidence, and comfort zone.
He started his pro boxing career in 1996. He became a champion in 1998. Soooooooooooo.............why is he lucky?
That's cool with me... You hate all "yanks" and I guess since I was born in America, I am one by British theory. Tell me again, how Roy Jones ducked Chris Eubank?:hi:
i kinda agree with this.. Floyd looked very very pretty against ghost.. judging from his last fight only, i'd stay floyd is becoming a smarter boxer and still unbeatable. however, based on his last few fights like cotto (he was supposedly sick) and ortiz (he didn't look all that slick but it was early at ko) , floyd hasn't looked near his prime but maybe that was rust. maybe floyd is back near his prime, sept is about to answer this question for sure.
