Canelo is a weight cheater???

He's a weight "cheater" via making the weight at the weigh in and rehydrating as you are allowed to do?

umm, you were the one who brought up Pacquiao. This fight is between FMJ and Canelo, not Pacquiao!! I never said Floyd's catchweight demand was worse than Pacquiao's, that was all you lmao. You're just making up s*** at this point.

Looking back at it, sure Pacquiao's catchweights deserve criticism in the sense that he might have had an advantage over DLH or Cotto. but no one really thought too much of those catchweights because no one made a big deal out of it. it wasn't until FMJ brought that up in the pre-fight for FMJ vs Cotto, then a year later demanded a catchweight. and the fact that he tried to lie and say that it was Canelo's team who wanted the catchweight. why is this so hard for you to understand?

FMJ acted like he would never do something like what Pacquiao did then he turned around and did it. and by the way, FMJ also had a catchweight vs Marquez and came in 2 lbs over. you could criticize him for not making the CATCHweight there too. but that fight was a non title fight so it was a little different, and this really isn't about comparing Pacquiao and FMJ, which is all you seem to want to do turbo. It's about not being a man of his word, lacking in integrity, and needing an advantage over Canelo when he's supposedly the best instead of fighting him straight up. if he fought him straight up, with no catchweight, there would be no excuses.

it's much worse then Pac vs Cotto because of the hypocrisy involved, not necessarily because of the catchweight demand. Pacquiao didn't say "catch weights are meaningless" or criticize other fighters for demanding catchweights. That's why it was much worse.

I never said Floyd's catchweight demand was worse than Pacquiao's. DLH was compleletely drained and unhealthy. I'm not debating that. But lets realize that Pacquiao was coming up from a lightweight fight vs David Diaz to welterweight to fight DLH. Pacquiao was jumping two weight classes up to meet DLH. It was a considerable risk for both men. At the time of the DLH and Cotto fights, Pacquiao had never fought at 154, let alone held a title there. it wasn't until after he fought Clottey that he moved up to 154 to fight Margarito. In FMJ's case, he had already fought twice at 154 and held a title there.

There are substantive differences between the catchweights that Pac had and this one FMJ wanted. But let me be clear turbotime, what makes this so much worse then Pacquiao is the hypocrisy involved. Not necesarily how bad the catchweights were for their opponents. However, when you really look at the weight differences, Pacquiao was agreeing to fight a much larger guy to traverse two weight classes. Canelo isn't 3 weight classes away from FMJ like DLH was from Pacquiao when the agreed to meet in the middle. Pac was a super featherweight in early 2008, and basically a welterweight in late 2008 for DLH. that's hard to do.

your panties are all up in a bunch because your guy, Floyd Mayweather Jr, has been exposed as a hypocrite. last year he said catchweights are meaningless and this year he's demanding a catchweight. so you're getting all defensive.

you can twist it or spin it anyway you like, but bottom line FMJ didn't have the balls to fight Canelo like a man. instead he had to pull some Pac-man shizznit and make excuses about how Canelo weighs too much after rehydration. dude wouldn't sign the contract without a CATCHweight.

It's worse then what Pacquiao did because of:
    1) what he said about catchweights last year
    2) the fact that FMJ holds a title at 154 and is defending that title :D
    3) the fact that FMJ is not coming up multiple weight classes like Pacquiao did for DLH

But, and maybe you can understand this turbotime : I do recognize that the catchweights were probably tougher on Pacquiao's opponents then this catchweight will be on Canelo. But those were also more appropriate catchweights (especially Pac - DLH) since Pac was coming from 130 lbs.

This isn't backtracking, this is trying to make my position crystal clear so you don't get confused. Pay attention to the details, not just the big words.

So you didn't say it, but now you said it? Youre all over the place. Pac/DLH wasn't even a catchweight. Go back to bed mate. Must have been a wild Saturday.

Yes he is a cheater, just because it is allowed does not mean it is right. If you are 165 fight night why not man up and move to middleweight?

Im almost throwing up with how emotionally invested some peoples posts are... You realise just about anything in life is easy when you look at the facts and do not get emotionally involved

Floyds a hypocrit for bagging catchweights then fighting at one regardless of which camps idea it was they both agreed.

Weight classes exist in boxing... 140,147,154,160,168 its in the interest of fairness
When you weigh in 150 for a 154 fight its very clear this is not hour weight division. Even the biggest haters wont argue this... Floyd is a welter. He is giving the fans the fight they want, its easily his biggest threat but when that man rehydrated to 172 you have to ask yourself if thats fair? Floyd is out of his natural weight division and comfort zone so why shouldnt canelo give up an extra 2lbs? From memory his had no trouble making 154 and would not agree to 152 if he could not make it, his been managed very well he even turned down a fight with may after he defeated mosley saying he was not ready. He also knows floyd cant retire at any moment he knows he is contracted to a few fights so why would he rush it?

If he comes in completely skeletal at the weigh in he has no one to blame but himself. He has all the balls in his court. Same deal with oscar an pac. Oscar at the end of his career should not have agreed to 147 because he had not fought there in 7 years im sure he knew hed have trouble. He signed so he has to deal with it

"I look at Miguel Cotto as an undefeated fighter because he faced Pacquiao, but Pacquiao caught him at a catch weight. He wasn't the best Miguel Cotto. He was drained. He wasn't hydrated"

I'm all over the place? I'm trying to explain to you my rationale rather then just trying to prove you wrong at all costs. all you seem to care about is arguging for arguing's sake whereas I'm actually trying to have an intelligent boxing discussion. Pacquiao had to step up two weight divisions (from lightweight), and De La Hoya had to go down one weight division (from light middleweight), to be eligible for the bout's welterweight division.

A catchweight bout is a fight held in between the customary fighting weight of the two participants. Like when SRL (160) fought Lalonde (175) at 168, it was a catchweight. Now 168 is an actual weight class, back then it wasn't, but that fight was still a catchweight. And I bet you're going to come back with a "gotcha" answer like "no 147 is an actual weight limit so it can't be a catchweight". this has been debated before so save your breath:

    boxingforum24.com/showthread.php?t=203372

The definition of catchweight inherently changed when boxing created more weight classes. Back in the old days, there was not catchweights like there are now two lbs below a weight class for financial incentive. If you read what Lalonde said about how absurd it is to have catchweights now with so many weight classes you'll get what I'm saying, but if history is any indication, you'll try to win some meaningless argument at the expense of rational thought.

Pac - DLH was quite similar to the situation SRL and Lalonde were in. Only difference is 147 is an actual weight limit whereas 168 wasn't at that time, but is now. One guy went up, the other guy went down. They met in the middle. However you define catchweight, I was pointing out that it was very hard for DLH to come down from 154 to 147. It was probably also hard for Lalonde to come down also.

What is so odd about the FMJ - Canelo catchweight is that FMJ holds and is defending a 154 pound title. He fought there just last year and didn't need a catchweight. in fact he made a big deal out of not having one.

You writing essays about your stance and I'm the one getting my panties in a bunch

How about Manny being a hypocrite suing Floyd for asking for blood tests then asking for them himself for Rios? Should Rios sue him now?

Or saying he doesn't fight for money but for the fans, then almost cancelling the Hatton fight 2 weeks left because he wanted more PPV money?

Where is your outrage over this?
