I like to congratulate Iain on his display last in in his title challenge against Kevin Satchell, like most I thought he was going to do it in that second round when he dropped and hurt Kevin, however it wasn't to be. I felt that at times he was being a little out worked even though loads of Kevin's shots weren't landing he looked busier on the eye. But IMO Iain will benefit greatly for the experience given that he's only 21 years old he has plenty of time on his hands,Iain has a great attitude in the gym and with natural improvement will be a real handful in future fights.
He is a very tidy boxer with superb technique. I agree with yourself and Paul Smith though at times he needs to throw more punches as by reacting to his opponents rather than leading, he makes them look as if theyre doing better than they are. I still think he won the fight though and landed the cleaner punches. I hate the way judges and public give so much credence to people who just throw a lot of ineffective punches. I'd much rather someone who is economical with their punches but landed a high percentage was rewarded.
hadnt heard of this laddie till last night he put on a good show, hes fae motherwell or that? U had him up the gym? Get him in tho ring with ricky toughen him up a bit more and we cud have another champ on the way
Personally I thought Iain did enough to get the decision, some rounds were close but I thought the eye catching work came from Iain. In no way will this defeat harm Iain it will actually galvanise him and he will now believe he can beat the best in Britain. For Satchell i really think he needs to step up in weight, he did well to come back after the knockdown but his work looked forced and he didn't seem to have any real snap in his punches. I'd back Iain Butcher to win if there is a rematch, he just looked so much more comfortable and after doing the 12 rounds easy he will know he can push himself a bit further next time.
Bit of credit for satchell too. hes took on and beat the best of his division in 11 fights taking and defending the british and commonwealth titles twice. faced top opposition too with 2 former and 1 current british champion and 2 top contenders in his last 5 fights I agree with billy that satchell won by a couple of rounds, tough fight but satchell more consistent
i was there and a few of the guys around me thought he had won it by a round or two... I understand his team are happy to entertain Satchell in a rematch Hes a Prospect fighter mate, but apart from a bit on the small hall round up about 18 months ago there hasent been much coverage of his fights on the tv ... :good
Thought Butcher won by a couple myself cleaner work. Satchell greater output but of less quality shots for me the home crowd comes into play in tight rounds shame but it does influence the judges at ringside.Always has done. He is only young hopefully the experience of doing 12 hard rounds gives him more confidence.
I had Butcher by 2. As did almost everybody at Ringside on Saturday. Lot of head shaking going on when that verdict was given. On the plus side, I don't think Butcher loses anything from it. General consensus was he won (I won't say robbed as there were a lot of rounds you could have scored either way) and given the lack of depth at his weight I'd be surprised if he doesn't get another shot at Satchell in the near future.
Butcher was robbed its funny we complain about fighters been send abroad and getting robbed but it happens here as well.
