Its the same old story with UK fighters...onerhyped and pumped up fr domestic consumption but fail on the international stage (apart from obvious exceptions like Froch, Honeyghan, Hamed).

The Brits are weird (i am English) in the way they support their fighters. They lap up the overhyped rubbish fighters and reject the true warriors. We are quite simple minded in that regard.

I have never seen a Tyson Fury fight and i dont need to because I just KNOW he will get destroyed by the first credible opponent...you can tell from the hype.

Tyson Fury is much better than Price. Fury is totally superior to Wilder, who ran from Thompson. Let's see Fury Vs. Wilder if the Haye does not happen, or lets see Thompson Vs. Wilder next. I hope Vitali or Vlad fights Wilder ASAP, so they can knock the fraud out cold!!!!!!!

Farmboxer is right, look at Furys resume compared to Prices, and Fury is barely mid twenties, Price is 30, Fury floored him in the amateurs when he was a teen, has a much, MUCH better pro record

Price knocked out Audley Harrison in a round, big deal, but hey at least he still did it more impressively than Deontay "Windmill" Wilder

When the likes of Seth Mitchell and Wilder are your hopes, you really can't start making it a national issue, rather than a simple lack of depth in the heavyweight division in general issue

Yes us Brits can overhype boxers a bit but we do come up with a few good international fighters now and again (don't understand why Lennox Lewis & Ricky Hatton weren't mentioned in the first post). Some countries overhype Boxers who don't win on an international level in the same way some overhype wars (Vietnam, Iraq) :smooch - it's all part of the game.

    Lewis is Canadian

    Hatton failed at high level

    I did miss out Benn

Fury will prove limited on the international stage for sure

first time Fury faces someone with decent skills and a punch, he will be exposed, on the plus side, he is only 24, so a loss or two won't mean his career is over, he'll still have years to improve

So where was Lennox Lewis born? how many years of his life did spend in the UK & Canada? Does Lennox consider himself British?
    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lennox_Lewis

In the end Hatton wasn't good enough to beat the top two elite boxers in the world within his weight class, you must be dam good if you see that as a failure - what have you achieved in boxing?

I do tend agree with you about Fury though. Fury is a character, people either want him to see him knock people out or get knocked out. You can be the best boxer in the world but if you aint got character you aint putting bums on seats (in front of PPV & Boxing rings) - look at Andre Ward. The hype is part of the game, stop whinning about it otherwise people will think you are British or something. ;)

Fury's already fought credible opponents. He's beat Derek Chisora - who beat Helenius but was robbed and challenged Vitali - Kevin Johnson - a former challenger to Vitali - and Steve Cunningham - a former IBF Cruiserweight Champion who beat Adamek but was robbed.

So far he's displayed a weak defense and weak chin but he's, so far, managed to overcome those weaknesses to win and advance his carrer. He's still not a proven world level fighter but he is proven on the international scene.

All Brits fail apart from the ones that dont.

    Great thread.

Fury will go further than Price. One thing Fury has in abundance over Price, and that is confidence.

Lewis learnt to box and spent his formative fighting years in Canada. Anywy no one in England accepted him as English until now...he was never embrace by British sports culture a being English. His amateur career was all under Canada...he ayed the English angle to drum up some interest...

Who did Hatton beat really? (That wasnt over the hill).

The UK hype machine is so bad that i dont need to see a Fury fight to know he will be rubbish..any fighter they hupe will be shite...its been that way for years.

Have the people in UK would of mever heard of Joneyghan ues he scored some of British boxings greatest wins...Froch only just gained prominence in Uk and he is a warrior king
