What I am talking about are guys who have lost.....but have never lost by a real stoppage. Guys who have the potential to be undefeated if boxing were still an unlimited round sport.

Oliver McCall comes to mind. Nobody ever beat him in a fashion where you could say they were REALLY the better man.

James Toney is another who comes to mind. In an unlimited round fight he might have gritted out RJJ even as a weight drained guy way below where he should have been at that point. He was so damn durable that he would have won some HW Titles earlier than he did. I think he beats more boxers from MW to HW than any other fighter in history who can actually make and made all the weights.

Another guy who fits this bill and is potentially undefeated is Chauncy Welliver. Nobody ever dropped him, nobody besides a crooked ref ever stopped him. Can you imagine that **** 100-200 years ago? A ref stops a fight before a guy even goes down a single time. The crowd would have hung him. Hell, even less than that ago was Patterson vs Tom McNeeley. I think McNeeley went down a number of times in the teens....and knocked Patterson down once himself. That is boxing. Nobody has ever proved they were the better fighter than Chauncy Welliver.

And don't try to put Vitali Klitschko in here either. He is a god damned quitter. Quitters have no place in the Potentially Undefeated Fighters Hall Of Fame!

    Juan "The Man" uel Marquez

Only time he's ever clearly lost was against Floyd Mayweather - a guy who made JMM come up 2 weight divisions AND STILL failed to honour the catchweight he himself set (and so is disqualified and doesnt count)

 I think he redeemed himself when he faced Lewis.
Robert Guerrero quit against Yordan but showed a lot of heart in coming fights.

Say what you will but I would place Welliver among the all time greatest chins in the sport of boxing. If you had to have a HW tournament of unlimited round fights for the HW's who have never been stopped by another man Welliver would be in the mix.

Welliver, Chuvalo, McCall, Toney, I'd let Quitschko in too, Marciano, Riddick Bowe, and Gene Tunney. You can't get a better 8 man unlimited round tournament than that. Welliver probably wears every last one of them out.

Marquez may have outlasted Floyd once the **** started to kick in. That is a good shout out. After what he did vs Pac Man when he was floored and busted up so bad and came back....how can you doubt this man in an unlimited round fight? Floyd is very lucky to be in a 12 round era. He'd have to run for 5 days to beat the old timers.

He's fought 2 good fighters Williams who beat him and ffs Solis who stopped him and would have dropped him if it had carried on.

imagine him vs McCall's opponents :rofl

    Douglas
    Seldon
    Norris
    Tucker
    Lewis
    Holmes
    Bruno
    Maskaev
    Akinwande
    Williamson
    Saleta
    Gomez
    Samil Sam
    Whitaker
    Oquendo

Lucas I suppose, although I have Zab just edging it..

Michael Nunn is another one.. If he never got KO'd during the Toney fight, he would of won.. and his other fights were close..

    Sergio Martinez..

Guerrero was not quitting in the face of a loss. He was not a champion quitting and giving up his world title. There is no comparison here. Guerrero was being smart there. He said he couldn't see so he didn't have 10 more rounds of getting peppered on that cut. And Yordan was already going gang busters out of the gate. It was a ***** move but very smart for his career. You may not have seen Floyd tear his arse up if he doesn't say he can't see. And there, where it really counted for the P4P Championship...the only peer to the HW Championship....he went for it until it was over.

Not 1 of those guys has the power to drop Welliver. Chauncy is nowhere near the level of competition that Ollie had but Ollie is 50+ and Chauncy is barely 30. And since Welliver is a tricky arse southpaw with an unbreakable chin....he probably never will get to face the very top dogs outside the sparring rings. It is a shame that David Tua and Shannon Briggs never manned up to Welliver's challenges. After beating those 2 power punchers this would be an easier argument to make.

Hard to rate Wellivers chin when all he ever fought were midgets, 50 year olds, and arm wrestlers that he picked up off the street and threw into a boxing ring.

Undefeated? :rofl He almost left the ring on a stretcher against the only top 50 fighter he ever fought, he got his ass handed to him by an old Tank Williams, and got schooled by a 4 fight novice.

Welliver always has been and always will be a joke in boxing history.

The Tank Williams fight was a majority decision. he never came close to dropping Welliver and it was a razor thin win for Tank. 5 more punches per round and Welliver wins a UD there. Tank did not land much. The only reason that fight was a loss was that Welliver was drained when he hit the damn ring. On that night, for multiple reasons, Welliver just didn't have the gas and intensity he needed. That is the shitty part about being a boxer. The event is 1 night no matter how you feel. Chauncy beats Tank Williams 99 out of 100 times.

In Williams very next fight, he rocked the Top 10 Helenius into the next week. Damn near knocked him the F out. He landed some totally flush right hand on Welliver too...never even shook him once. Not a single stagger or anything.

The f'n Fuji fight came after losing his shot at the WBA HW Title. That is the difference of 1 point in the Tank Williams fight. Going against Povetkin or going against Fuji. And in that fight it was close to over in the 1st two rounds when Welliver whipped his arse and had him so buzzed that 1 more follow up attack there and it was a KO win. Then for whatever reason after that he slowed down again that night and did not take the fight to Fuji like he needed to beat him in Japan. It is another case where he beats Fuji 99 of 100 times but Fuji catches him on a night when everything is to Fujis advantage.

I give credit to both Williams and Fuji though. They are very decent fighters. And Fuji is much better than a 4 fight novice. He has been in combat for a long time and is very accomplished. haumono got him out of there but the guy can fight. if he stays on his feet he is a quick little ******* and has some decent hands. But he is no bum off the street.

    Excuses, excuses

Pretty sad too, Welliver is a decent guy.....yet fans like you make it worse for him with your delusional nuthugging and outlandish claims.
