LOL at Oscar suggesting he and Tito were in Hopkins' class at 160. The good news is that Oscar's trolling bodes better for this fight getting made than when everyone ignored GGG. It's helping to market the fight, and ODH wouldn't take time to make the comments if there weren't at least some possibility it happens. We may see this fight come off after all....
So GGG beats Trinidad and DLH based on what? I don't mind Oscar trolling, he's earned his place amongst the lower tier of ATG's and is filthy stinking rich. If he wants to troll someone, who are we to say otherwise?
Yeah, that is the biggest yuk of all getting lost in the mix a bit. :yep As though either of them were long-term proven commodities at MW instead of...well, failures. (going 3-2 and 1-1 at the weight respectively...and really Oscar should've been 0-2...)
...but the 160lb versions of Trinidad (who fought Joppy, Hopkins, Cherifi, Mayorga, and Winky) and De La Hoya (who fought Sturm and Hopkins) do? :blood
Looking at DLH's and Tito's combined Middleweight records, it's about .500. It wasn't just Hopkins- Wright and Sturm took care of business, too. They'd actually have a losing record at the weight if Sturm hadn't been robbed, and Wright was also past his best at 160. Great WW accomplishments don't offset that those guys just weren't great Middleweights. Period. Golovkin would ice both of them and is more proven at 160 than either of them. Literally, the only wins they have are Sturm, Mayorga, Joppy, and Hacine Sherifi. Why wouldn't GGG be a clear favorite?
First of all, the Wright fight was 4 years after Trinidad's prime and the only fighter who he fought during that time frame was a bloated Mayorga, so I honestly don't know why you're using that as an example. Joppy was winning and knocking mother ****ers out during his title reign. He was the reigning defending WBA champion and didn't get handed his title like GGG did.. he actually earned it and held the title for 4 years. Hopkins beat Trinidad, but Hopkins is an ATG top 5 middleweight of all time.. plus Hopkins is a crafty boxer.. GGG knocks mother ****ers out. GGG's style is tailor made for Trinidad. And the DLH Sturm fight was a farce. DLH lost that fight, but the guy was fighting for a WBO title which was equivalent to the IBO title today. He came in fat and was fighting some random European in Sturm. He fought Hopkins, and lost.. again, Hopkins being an ATG top 5 middleweight. GGG is just a belt holder.
