Thread starter, I raise to you Maurice Harris. Did you see that stoppage? He did what he wanted to do vs Liakhovich in there.

Harris is an extremely skilled operator in there, which Wilder most certainly is not.

Does Wilder has anything comparable to the robbery loss Harris has against an old Holmes? :verysad

I really didn't like the Briggs performance, either. And that would've stood even if he'd have survived the 12th and won.

He's just not a consistent fighter and it looks to me like it boils down to training, or lack thereof.

I hope he proves me wrong, has been busting his ass, and is ready to give Wilder a tough fight. Talented, but hit and miss work ethic is just the vibe I get from Sergei. We'll see how it goes.

Well the Briggs fight was a solid performance up until he went full ******.

I count that against the mans ring IQ, not his ability to take a shot, his grit, etc.

Fighters make that cardinal sin sometimes. Nate Campbell to Anderson Silva.

His fight against Wilder will be more about his conditioning and durability.

    Personally I like the fight

Look at what happened to David Price big Olympian big punch destroyed some over matched guys and his camp got over zealous

first it was a lucky punch, then Thompson just exposed the **** out of him. fact is price was so rushed its not funny. He had a few early blow outs and fought a guy like Audley who now a days walks in for the check and falls down and suddenly they pit him in with thompson who did 17 rounds with wlad

they were saying oh he will win faster and easier than wlad, i said based on what? he beat nothing close to the guy who may have given wlad his toughest fight since peter.

it wasnt prices chin or his boxing or his stamina but his management. Yes those are all causes for concern but all of that can be worked on in time, he should have fought a continental European fighter like Sosnowski who would have been a step up from audley but not a massive danger, instead he gets a tough vet who knows his way around the ring and out foxed him

Wilder is smart, SL will take him several rounds which is vital since Wilder hasnt gone rounds. SL will test the stamina and the ability to set up his punches or even need a plan B. SL will test his defense because he will actually throw punches. This will be a good test unless he blasts him out very quick

on a side note some guys can win a title fast like Ali while others take time to bloom live Wlad Klitschko himself and guys like Holmes and Foreman really took a while to step up themselves

Id say Wilder is fine and age wise he has time on his side

And the idiocy that is Derrick continues.....

    Let me school you, again.

Wlad offered Liahkovich a fight, in fact it was agreed and maybe even announced if I remember right. Siarhei pulled out because he couldn't get his passport or visa in order and couldn't leave the US.

Liahkovich is over the hill....shot is a better term, because he hasn't been the same since the Brewster fight. He had a prime of 1 fight. He hasn't won a significant fight since then, 6+ years ago. He was a target practice for Valuev and Helenius laid a beating on him.

Anyone that truly thinks Liahkovich has anything left is seriously deluded and just trying to hype Wilder. Truth is, Wilder is fighting another zombie and he's a joke.

I'm with ya on that. SL is defo a step up from Harrison and will test Wilder if he can survive the ref after the early KD(s).

I think the ref will be the deciding factor in this one. Seems GBP has an ace up their sleeve in the ref, in that, when, not if, Wilder gets his oppents down, the ref can wave it immediately and the hype will be allowed to continue.

Had Prices ppl done the same, Price would be 17-1 now with a KO win over Thompson.

Let's not expect Oscar to allow Liakovich to fight on after having been knocked down.:think

SL, shot as he may be, will not kneel over or drop after the first big punch Wilder lands, I'm hoping he has enough to take Wilder into deep waters where he hasn't been yet, to show what he is really made of, I'm hoping the ref will be decent, because his handlers are not fooling anyone with this Wilder hype, anyone who follows boxing will not be fooled, he has fought low-level opponents, even if he KD's SL, i hope it will not be waived off without a count
