Everyone was saying that Macklin will expose triple G and he is untested at this stage. Golovkin destroyed him and now people are like "He is not tested, he hasn't fought anybody yet," and so on. What the f*ck is going on? Golovkin might not be tested at the highest level i agree, but to say that he is just a hype job is ridiculous. I think Golovkin is at elite level and there is no shame if he were to lose to Martinez (The only fighter at middleweight - who i believe has a chance) I personally wanna see him stay at MW, i believe no matter his power, that he is too small for SMW against Froch & Ward, and i don't wanna see him drain himself in order to make 154. Just stay active at 160 and clean the division :deal

Man we get the point you Wlad nuthuggers are in love with Golovkin. No need for anymore threads. BTW Macklin is a tomato can.

Macklin gave Sergio one of his toughest tests to date, and he was robbed against Sturm. How is he a tomato can? He's a solid MW. The way GGG beat him was impressive to say the least.

    Champ-Martinez

Could not have been any lower than #6...

Very true.... its funny how before the fight, Macklin was the guy to 'see where GGG is at', and when Macklin was toyed with n leveled in 3, its as if that fight was never a litmus test to begin with

    That being said.

Theres been many fighters who look great against the non elite, but fall short of being great fighters against the elite, for one reason or another.

The truth is, GGG, through no fault of his own, still has yet to face a true elite. And its not until he fights a true elite, will fans get a better picture of just how good he is.

There'll always be doubters just as there'll always be fans. After all, being a doubter is almost always a winning prospect in the long term.

I'd seen enough of Golovkin a year ago to understand he was something exceptional. Other peoples opinions don't really matter, for me the gradual unveiling of a sublime talent is worth the wait. There is actually fewer and fewer out there who are still doubting, but they have their right to a say, after all I'm pretty sure every boxing enthusiast out there has had to eat vast quantities of crow over the years. It's an occupational hazard.

There will be a hardcore who will continue to disparage Genas every achievement - just as with today's outstanding talents. Funny thing is, when I'm watching his fights the last thing I care about is someone else's opinion. Watching a master craftsman at work is reward in itself. If someone else fails to enjoy his fights, well, bad luck. If he gets beaten tomorrow or in 10 years, for me it won't detract from what he's already shown.

Having said that tho, I believe that 10 years from now GGG will be regarded as one of the early greats of the 21st century.

I'm excited to see just how good he is. We will find out in the next couple of years. He did beat Bute and Dirrell in the amatuers but i want to see him against elite comp right now. A lot of guys can look great against B level fighters but once they step up to the elite, their flaws get exposed.

Just a quick list of posts.... could go on and on and on, but heres a few. If I were to continue, the list would be long as hell in the amount of people who thought Macklin was going to be a good test for G. Of course, many others felt he would win impressively by KO, but the amount of people who thought he would toy with Macklin, throw him around like a rag doll and stop him in 3, were few, and far between.

Seriously, how much more support could Golovkin possibly get? He's one of the most hyped fighters out there at the moment. The Macklin fight upped the Golovkin hype a **** ton.

The Macklin fight was a test, but only his first. He is a good fighter and he may become a great fighter but 1 top level guy is not enough to declare him the best MW. I THINK GGG will end up being one of the best and most exciting fighters of this decade, but for now I know I'm only guessing!

That list of quotes above was great.

If Macklin was not elite than who would be considered an improvement for his next fight?

    Martinez-Injured, will not happen next
    Quillen- Rival network
Chavez Jr-Fight scheduled at a higher weight
Geale- After beating Barker, OK. Fine!

Only argueable step ups from Macklin at middleweight. Where are these "elite" step up fights coming from? Mayweather will not go near him so the only other options are jumping up to 168 but that is not in his immediate future plans.
