Sparring stories are cool, but the truth is found in what the fighter produces in the ring. I think we have a good assessment of where G's power is at, and its more then enough against middleweights. I don't think its this mythical, unseen power that's being made out to be, lets not forget that Ouma, as tough and durable as he is, basically took everything G threw at him, plus the kitchen sink, and it was the ref that stopped it, with Oumas hands at his sides almost letting G hit him. On the other end, we have also seen him level other durable guys like Ishida, and Macklin. So his power is for real, no question. But I think we have also seen some of its limits as well. As it is, at middleweight, and against middleweights, hes got more then enough power to do the job.
Golovkin had Visa issues and was fprced to live at the Panama City airport for like three days, only being let into Panama a day before the fight. He fought on very little sleep and crappy food yet still managed to put Ouma in the hospital with a myriad of injuries.
can't beat him if he won't fight him. There's a reason oscar took quillen over to showtime. It's so he would never have to get KO'd by GGG. Quillen's a KO waiting to happen. All he needs is to face a tough B level guy with moderate power and he gets stopped. Vera could possibly do it and jr would for sure. GGG might kill him.
I agree with that last part but Quillen would embarrass Jr. and Vera. And this is coming from a Vera fan.
Na I give GGG the benefit of the doubt here. This isn't James Page trying to make a name out of himself cuz he supposedly got the best of Oscar ONCE. These are several, almost HALF A DOZEN PRO FIGHTERS some elite, some non-elite, giving praise and respect to GGG. It's not GGG doing any of the boasting, it's the fighters themselves giving him the cred.
So we have another 2 LHWs who sparred 3G in Kovalev and Grachev. :yep posted by Adil user "Kovalev wasn't who I thought he was going to be when I had him in the ring sparring with gggboxing" - Abel Sanchez When this was posted in the Russian social network group dedicated to Golovkin, Kovalev himself wrote the following comments (I translate them into English): "- Abel is over the top))) Come to earth. There were many sparring sessions and each sparring went differently. But I can say for sure that Gena is very tough and it's truly hard to box with him" And then TomLoeffler1 -"this was taken out of context-Abel was very complimentary toward Kovalev-he beat up everybody in sparring except GGG" and Grachev http://www.google.ro/url?sa=t&rct=j...qMQ9o-K75l-JlM_thQAq3rg&bvm=bv.48705608,d.bGE
I'm very curious whos gonna be 3G's next opponent now that he proved himself against Macklin :think Geale - Barker winner ? waiting for JCC ? Murray ? maybe Froch @ 168 ? or maybe he'll take an easy fight :think
This would make great sense. The WBA/IBO champion vs a guy who some think beat Sergio. Good fight, in my opinion. And I had Sergio winning the fight. Murray just gave away too many rounds at the end, and Sergio never gave up, injuries and all.
Ay, theres always an excuse, or if not excuses, reasons as to why things didn't happen. The fact is, citing little sleep and crappy food doesn't quite do it in terms of why Ouma was able to take GGG's shots like he did. And put big deal, he put Ouma in the hospital. Not sure whats to boast about there. Kassim Ouma was a 154lber whos best days were farrrrr behind him, and had soaked up lots of punishment in his career. GGG in his prime, and at his weight, put a beating on him. Big surprise. Theres no shame in not rendering Ouma unconscious.... Jermain Taylor tee'd off on a prime Ouma 5 years earlier and didn't do much. But to say it doesn't show a partial ceiling to his power is just being a bit naïve imo. That being said, I actually think GGG is better then he was then... if one watches G vs Ouma again, I think its fair to say G has improved a bit (at least imo)
Ouma was 31 and had beat Martirosyan just 2 fights before but got robbed i wouldn't say he was shot like you're claiming. He was hospitalized for quite a while after the fight and hasn't fought since.
