Wladimir Klitschko opponents: Are any HOF worthy?

A blind man can see that Wladimir Klitschko is going to be inducted into the hall of fame. Rahman and Haye could be candidates, too.

Arguably the best record of all time?

They're just black and white stats. On paper they look great, but his boxrec stats don't allow for circumstances.

A fighters record needs to be analysed closely. Who did they fight? At what point did they fight them? What were the circumstances etc?

Wlad's got a good record, but it's not amazing, and it's certainly not the best ever.

He's been knocked out 3 times in his 20's, by guys who weren't elite, and then he let Vitali avenge 2 of those losses for him. His best win according to you is Haye, who's a former CW who only had 4 fights at HW before facing Wlad. Since he's lost to Wlad, what's he done?

If you've been knocked out by Puritty, Sanders and Brewster, gone life and death with Sam Peter (who's not elite) and your best win is Haye, then you certainly have NOT got the best HW record of all time. It's laughable!

Either way he's getting into HOF despite all the sh1t, even bringing the sport into disrepute with his drug allegations

 

It would be totally unprecedented for a fighter who unified the titles and was the top man in the division over several years not to be inducted into the IBHOF, whatever the circumstances.

I consider Wlad’s induction to be a done deal.

He will be elected as soon as he is eligible, and might indeed have qualified for automatic induction.

 

There's no doubt whatsoever that he'll get into the hall of fame, and I've no issue with that. But if baffles me how anyone can say he has an amazing record, or it's best of all time.

 

Calzaghe has not qualified for automatic induction. I dont even think was on the first ballot.

If Joe cant get in as soon as he is eligible , what chance does Wladimir have?

IBHOF look for people who gave something to boxing. What did Wladimir ever give to the sport? He cant generate the ratings to attract interest from HBO or Showtime so why would people vote for him to be inducted into the hall of fame?
Fact is he never once gave a performance hall of fame worthy, never beaten a great fighter or fought one and got blown out 3 times by average Joe's.
This will all factor into criteria of elevation and padding his record with bottom feeders will be seen for what it is .

 

Dont hold your breath. If Povektin wins , he has no chance. People thought Gatti would not be inducted. Being a fighter like Gatti assures a place in boxing history. Wlad never fought like a great and that will set him back. Im not saying he definitely wont get in , but i dont see him as a lock.

I don't think ANY of Wlad's opposition is HOF worthy. If any of them do make it, it would only mean, imo, that the selection criteria has been massively diluted.

 

Joe is eligible next year and is not on the ballot. Wlad will probably get in but it will take time.

 

I cant stand the Klits but Wlad defo is HOF worthy and so is Vitali. But both are not very high on my ATG list.

Like it or not, imo, being an ATG means being the best of your era and ruling your division and Wlad has done that.

As for his opposition, hell no Rahman does not deserve to be in there. Haye might, being one of the few whose won titles at CW and HW (i think Holyfield is the only other one)

 

I rather doubt that the 2014 balot is finalised yet.

 

I hope Povetkin beats him, I'm not a fan. But either way, I think he'll definitely get in.

It would be an absolute joke in my opinion, for Rahman to get in though.

 

I basically agree with Janitor, but I want to add that Corrie Sanders might get in on the basis of his death and being probably the most noteworthy South African fighter ever (not the most accomplished South African though).

 

If you take his amateur career and his pro career, Chagaev could qualify.
