David Tua vs. Rocky Marciano.

Why ask?

Because there are a range of different opinions for a start.

 

Tua is overrated and so is his power. Yep i said it.

Marciano should bust Tua up.

 

Tua remains the king of hypotheticals, and is one of the most dominant fictional fighters to have graced the forum of ESB (If I can still call this site by that name).

Tua is so amazing that not only is he able to beat fighters that he lost to in real life....but his mythical power combined with modern training and nutrition (And lets be honest he is agile and ripped as well), allow him to beat any pre 1990 fighters that have ever existed...in spite of the fact that he really has no significant wins in real life...It is almost a shame that he does not have any titles in real life, yet knocks off all of the former champs in hypotheticals....never had a win over a great in real life, yet consistently KO's top 10 ATG's in 1 round (I mean c'mon Tommo has deftly laid the blueprint with his in depth analysis and we should be delighted that has the willingness to impart his in depth knowledge of the sport to us!)....

The enigmatic David Tua, reigns with his improvement of the Tysonesque style an beats guys he really wouldn't...gotta love this forum!

 

Tua is probably the most over rated fighter on these forums, head to head.

There is a reason why he lost all the most important fights of his career.

 

Yep, name one guy Tua kod, who actually had a decent chin?

His opposition was a lot worse than Tysons.

Tua is made into this mythical H2H beast yet he lost to anyone who could box and koed guys with no chins like Moorer and Maskaev.

Marciano would out-tough him and Tyson would knock Tua out

1) Tyson wipes the floor with Tua and Marciano is better than Tua.

I guess part of the reason why Tua is so credible in fantasy fights, is because he ticks so many boxes for being a modern Rocky Marciano, and lets face it we all want such a fighter. In practice however only 80% of the system is in place.

Even today, when he has long since ceased to be a serious factor at world level, there are still people who seriously think that he poses a threat to the Klitschkos.

 

Tua was bloated with so much artificial weight it is unreal!

I keep hearing about what a natural 240lb beast Tua was but he was a mere 201lb when he started his career and was still not as fit looking as marciano!

Naturaly Tua was closer to Marciano size than folks want to believe.

With a 1950s diet and training Tua would have been a 194lb fighter at best, Tua would have controlled his weight and developed into a much, much better fighter than he was in the 1990s.

i think that he is underrated if anything, it is irrlevant if he lost important fights because marciano never fought in the era of tua, tua would have destroyed every guy that marciano did beat and more easily. tua is bigger, stronger, hits harder, he had a better chin and he was around 40 pounds heavier prime vs prime. i don´t think that rocky would have any advantage here but his credentials of legacy, but it is h2h, not about who is greater...

 

about tyson vs tua... of course that mike is the better fighter, no question about, but stylistically tua would have a great chance to beat mike. tyson should fight smart and outpoint tua, if he trades with him he would get hurt seriously, tua took a better shot, he was probably physically stronger, he had more stamina and he was the heavier puncher for sure.
