Collins lost while he was still learning to very good boxers. He lost before he was the finished product. Those loses meant nothing. Froch lost in his prime to better boxers.
Froch fought better fighters in his prime that's why. Even this poll has Froch ahead of Calzaghe (combine the space between boxing and scene) http://www.boxing scene.com/forums/showthread.php?t=598566
Its a good list but lets be real. Bute was a good win but hadnt beaten a real top SMW, Pascal at SMW did nothing and wasnt all that good, Dirrell at SMW hasnt done anything, Kessler when coming off a loss beat Froch, Johnson was a boiled down fighter in his 40s who is a SMW journeyman and has lost more at the weight than won, Abraham coming off a loss and whos big win is a debateable one over Steiglitz who many called a weak champ, Ward beat Froch in a close fight, Taylor was ahead before the finish and hasnt done anything at SMW at all and was 1-2 when Froch fought him Not at SMW which is the thread
He will need to stick around to put in the work and not move up, as some of his predecessors have way more than 5 title defenses at SMW. As it stands he is as much on the outside looking in as Finito Lopez. He could do it, though. Easily.
So if he lost to better boxers how on Earth do you have him ranked as the greatest of all time? Calzaghe was unified champ in 2 divisions. Undefeated.
Yes and Collins didnt do a thing at SMW besides beat a shot Benn and Eubank. That's like giving credit to Froch for beating Reid.
Compared to Collins I'm saying. The guys Froch fought would've creamed the guys Collins fought at 168.
Dawson? Please... What Ward have over Calzaghe is the Froch W, Joe beat a prime Kessler - no one can't take that away. Froch is great win, no doubt. But i'd favour Calzaghe.
