I put that down more to Cotto being a midget at 154, poor stamina, and having trouble getting inside on Trout, more than Trout having a slick style. And even then he was catching No Doubt pretty well for the first few rounds.
I'd favor Lara heavily. And I'd cream my pants if this were true (along with Garcia/Matthysse). Even if Lara/Trout were the co-main, I might get a little premie action going on.
I'll be honest I thought it was 7-5 Trout, close but clear. The way people talk about it you'd think Cotto got shut out... I really think that Trout did not take Cotto's shots well. He took them, but his reactions showed he felt them more than any other time. To me it seemed like Trout got "shook" more against Cotto than he did against Alvarez.
This card would **** on Marquez-Bradley. Floyd Mayweather Vs. Saul Alvarez = Juan Manuel Marquez Vs. Timothy Bradley Danny Garcia Vs. Lucas Matthysse >>>> Orlando Salido Vs. Orlando Cruz Erislandy Lara Vs. Austin Trout >>>> Jessie Vargas Vs. Luis Carlos Abregu TBA Vs. TBA // ? Sean Mongahan Vs. Anthony Smith
Ive always thought Trouts size advantage helped him with Cotto. Why do people say Cotto is better at 154? I think Cottos best days were 140-147 :think He is small at 154.
such a tough fite for trout. especially after losing to canelo. i would give him a tune up. but ill still pick trout to win . this fight will for sure go to the distance i think though
If Trouts lets his hands go, I'd favor him. Lara's good, but still overrated. Every time he fights people get mocked for not predicting a blowout, then after the fact, there's a line of excuses for why it didn't happen and people just predict he'll destroy the next guy. Good fighter, but a lot of people are convinced he's a level above what he really is. I think he's peaked while Trout's still on the way up.
Trout has the size, but I see a fight much similar to Lara-Martirosyan. I don't think this is a fight to cream your drawers about just yet. No official news on it and who says it will even be fulfilled by the time September comes around? Same with Garcia-Matthysse, sadly.
Im not a believer in this card... but if true, this could be the best card in recent boxing history. Im struggling to think of a better one. Again though, I doubt it happens.
Great tactic by GBP to give some exposure of Floyd's future opponents. So people won't be "Oh, I don't know who that is Floyd's fighting." At least next time folks can say, "Oh, he's fighting that slick Cuban guy or that monster from Argentina."
