lol u serious? where was haye hurt, he got hit with a good shot at one point as a i recall but wasn't hurt?? and lmao rewatch the ko seriously he stumbles around lol.. The one thing i think should be taken into consideration is time left in a round, although for example coyle was hurt, i think there was maybe only 15-20 secs left and he could of probably got through until then and the corner can make a decision on if hes ok or not...
Difficult to make the call without having the ability to look in to the fighters eyes like the ref does. There was a camera on the ref for the Khan v Garcia fight and I think that would be great to see more often. Then you really get the close up view the ref does and maybe it would explain a few more of these stoppages which look a bit early.
Spot on about the medical facilities but I don't think the ref's have been as affected in all honesty. In both the McLellan and Watson fights the ref couldn't have done anything to stop the damage, I am pretty sure the McLellan injury seemed to be caused by a clash of heads and Watson obviously from that fateful uppercut. The referee couldn't have done anything in either case but what really hurt the fighters was how long it took them to get out the ring and into medical care. Also with McLellan he flew home early when he shouldn't have done and that also compounded his disabilities apparently. Certainly with McLellan when you watch it back you wonder what his corner were thinking, he was blinking wildly and looked very out of sorts like something was definitely wrong. As for Coyle I am very surprised people are saying he should have been allowed to continue. He wasn't there at all that shot he took was brutal and right on the button, he didn't have his wits about him and had it carried he would have been stopped but even more savagely in the proceeding seconds you can bet your life on it. I really think boxing fans should try and be a bit more humanitarian sometimes, imagine if Coyle was your brother or your son, would you want to see that fight carry on after he went down from that shot? Sometimes we forget that these guys are human beings with a life to live and they're not just there for our entertainment and although the fans like to see crushing one punch KO's as they're dramatic, I don't think we should be hoping that refs let fights continue "just to make sure" that someone is totally defenseless and is about to be tee'd up for a full force right hook from a guy that punches people all day every day for a living.
all three were legit stoppages! Coyle got ironed out, jones was getting a pasting and what was the point in andy harris carrying on he would of went down five times in the first round totally pointless that fight would of just carried on the same way in fact im suprised the ref didnt call time after the second knockdown.
