I was interested untill you mentioned Suzie McGuire. She'd give Ricky a decent spar going by her battering her husband recently
This must be the most pointless Q&A of all time! No offence Billy but when has Ricky ever answered a question put to him by anyone in the media or anywhere with anything more than "I'll fight who they put in front of me" or "I'll fight anyone" or some other nondescript retort. I'd actually like to go to this and do a proper David Dimbleby on him and find out why none of these unification's are happening but Ricky Burns must be one of the only boxer's in history that seems to have absolutely no say whatsoever in his own career or who he fights. It's always Alex Morrison or Eddie Hearn or FW or fighting in Scotland, or not enough money or not enough training camp time etc etc. Instead of just doing the usual reply Billy can you please take a short moment to just address this issue, as his trainer, if you really believe that he is as good as he is, the tragedy is going to be that he will never get the credit for it because he simply doesn't fight anyone, let alone beat them, who is good enough to back up and cement your claims, which I am open minded to by the way as I feel he is good enough to beat anyone in the division possibly other than Broner.
Ricky is the most honest guy you will meet mate and wouldn't tell you something if it weren't true, with regards to unification fightswere want them big time and they will happen hopefully with the ring belt on offer as well
I know Ricky is a top top guy Billy I have untold respect for him and how he carries himself and I prefer that he doesn't make outlandish claims and is down to earth but it does sometimes borderline on coming across as a bit too laid back sometimes. The only time I have ever seen him not smiling or getting the hump was in that press conference when they were trying to get him to fight Walsh. It would be tragic if he wasted these prime years taking money making fights rather than chase the dream of being the undisputed champion, you know him better than anyone but to me he doesn't seem driven by money and seems all about the boxing so I just really really want him to get that chance to prove it and after all the frustrations with your former promoter the current one doesn't really seem to be offering much more! Get Beltran out the way and just go in for the hard fights! He's ready!
As I say mate Ricky would make such statements unless they have been made to him, we both want the big fights
The ring magazine is the bible of boxing even if its had its ups and downs It's a respected belt as it is them saying you are the no 1 in the division and their rankings were well regarded until recently
To have a chance to fight for that belt Ricky would actually have to fight another champion first. Let's not get ahead of ourselves.
Solaris apart from Carl froch, Ricky is the only other elite fighter in he UK at present and all you do is try and give him a hard time, you need to do what he does for a week and see if you'd like people like yourself knocking him.you wouldn't!!!
I like Ricky, he's clearly a top bloke and a brilliant ambassador for our sport. I dislike the fact you constantly talk **** about others. That simple really. Edit: For example, you call Ricky an elite fighter and compare him to Froch. Utterly disrespectful to Carl. He's fought the best time and time again and traveled all over the world to do so. Ricky hasn't.
Elite means different things in different contexts. In terms of British fighters, Froch has proven himself against quality oppositon over a period of time. Not sure how you can bracket Burns with Froch there. Burns and Cleverly are a level down from that right now and need to prove themselves by stepping up. Cleverly is stepping up by fighting Kovalev (who HBO think is gonna decapitate Clev)......
