There's no shite in there at all. He had a very close fight against Robin Reid. For the first half of the fight against Kessler, Kessler was causing him a lot of trouble. Bika also caused Joe problems. I didn't mean struggle as in he scraped by them, but he was certainly troubled by them. Bika, Reid, and Kessler are/were good fighters. But they're not elite. Simply put, a guy that has trouble with Robin Reid and Mikkel Kessler, is NOT GOOD ENOUGH to have beaten a 25 year old version of Roy Jones. Joe put in a fantastic performance against Lacy, and it was a joy to watch. However, his bottle went, and he tried to pull out at the last minute, until Frank W and his own Father talked him around. That shows you his mindset. We also know that he said he didn't want tough fights, and he knew what his capabilities were, and to fight with Roy, he'd want the Crown Jewels. So, he would never have fought a peak version of Roy. But if he had have done, the chances of him beating Roy at 25/26, would have been slim to none. Roy was faster of hand and foot, had a better defence, better reflexes and more power. Joe was a great fighter. But he could never have beaten Roy at his peak, never!
This is what people seem to forget. Joe was a great fighter! I started watching him about a year before the Eubank fight. But outside of Europe he wasn't a big name. He wanted the Crown Jewels to face Roy, and I keep asking the following question over and over again and nobody has an answer. Who in 2001/2002 was going to pay Joe huge money to fight Roy? The answer is, NOBODY was! Joe was a nobody to Roy back then. He was a WBO champion that fought in a DIFFERENT weight class. The fight was never viable for various reasons.
Just so you fvcking Yank ******s know most Brits would be highly offended if you didn't hate us, as we consider you inferior garbage anyway. There are only 2 kinds of people in the world, Brits, and those that want to be Brits. You are in the second catagory, and therefore insignificant. Hence you speak our language, only our ghetto dwelling half wits try to speak your nonsense. Oh and your hero worship of your drug cheating athletes doesn't impress us either, from Roid Jones to that fvcking idiot on the bicycle.:yep
Same way you beat Hatton, offer him a few lines of coke the day before the fight. Can't believe none of his opponents thought of this.
Nah, I have to stand by my original assessment, Loudon. Some shyte in there. Again, he did NOT STRUGGLE with Bika or Kessler, as most understand the term. (BTW, Kessler WAS elite when he faced Joe). The main point of your retort was that he would have lost to RJJ. I never disputed that and even said so in my post. Perhaps the most egregious piece of shyte would be the assertion that he 'lost his bottle' facing Lacy. From memory, he gave Lacy a terrible beating and functionally ended his boxing prospects. What he may or may not have felt prior to the fight is not relevant to this question. By your logic, Ali lost his bottle against Liston after round five of their first fight and needed Dundee to talk him into going out for six. Had Joe failed to face Jeff (or Ali quit on his stool) this would actually have been a case of 'losing one's bottle.' Not sure what's going on in your noggin here, lad. You're usually more reasonable and balanced on here.
Hahahahaha Harry Potter motherfvckers. Pretty sure we spanked your girly asses to NOT be Brits, now you think we want to be Brits? Stop it, I'm blushing.
I wonder if there really was a way to beat Calzaghe... He was just so damn good, it seems he terrified boxing and the legends that found fame avoiding him. Whatever his opponent possessed he had something better to counter it with and truly dominate
joe terrified all the greats in their prime because of how little money they would have made facing him.
