I'm starting to think Groves / Booth may have got their timing spot on!!!

    Big fan of Groves and like Froch.. caught in two minds as to how this will pan out. I'm caught in two minds that;

    1. This could be 12 months too soon for George
    2. Adam Booth is a very clever man when it comes to the sport of boxing, for him to allow this fight he must know something and seen something in Froch that Groves can exploit... we know Froch dropped Groves to the body 3/4 years ago when Groves had not been a pro too long whilst Froch was fighting at the top level but perhaps Groves was doing well prior and after (he got straight up and finished the session) even back then.... and then since then he has improved leaps and bounds.

Either way, George does possess a good strong jab.. come fight night his jab MUST be on song. However he does seem do a lot of unecessary movement which could tire him out.. something he can't afford against Froch because he's proven time & time again he can keep coming for the full 12 rounds.

Terrible fight for Groves in my opinion, should have looked at Stieglitz, Abraham. He will get stopped by Froch, I think he has very little chance at all of causing a shock. I like Groves but Froch is a step too far too early.

Surprised Carl is taking this fight on, it's kind of a lose/lose fight for him.

I just feel Grove's chin might let him down here much like Bute's.

Eh? Go watch the fights again!!
Johnson had ambition v Froch, he was aggressive and did well early.
V Groves, he was here to get paid, no more than that. He didn't even really try

Agree think Groves should follow the brook blueprint and wait till he's had 30 fights rarely above domestic level before thinking about a title shot

I have to just pick you up on the Johnson comment. There was a difference between the Johnson that fought Froch and the Johnson that fought Groves IMHO.

Johnson lost a tough battle to Froch. Then displayed some fine sparring partner work with Bute and then lost at 175lbs to Fonfara in a fight he looked poor in and retired afterwards.

Against Groves he got in position but ability to pull the trigger wasn't there and he wasn't the same rough and tough guy IMO. I think to say they was the same verision is pushing it. I saw Groves comment today about it only being a year but a years a long time in boxing.

I recall before, or maybe after a recent Froch fight he was talking about how he was smashing all his personal bests in the gym, can't remember what fight it was though. But if froch only say a year ago was at his physical peak I can't see him losing that in a year. In other words, if Froch is his formidable self, with his improved ring smarts (finally listening to his corner), his vastly underrated jab, and his SERIOUS WEALTH OF EXPERIENCE I can't see him losing this at all.

Groves has barely even beat anyone of Yusaf Mack's level yet. This is simply too soon for him. If he does have the right style to beat Froch he doesn't yet have the experience to employ it.

Groves can only win by a knockout. He hasn't got the strength to engage in a toe to toe which means he'll have to get on his bike, the problem with that is Froch is too active with the jab not to win rounds and ultimately the decision.

However what I don't accept is that Groves can't put Froch down. Booth's entire career comes down to one tactic, drawing the opponent on setting them up for a bigggg hook. Froch is cumbersome, he presents LOADS of openings. Whether that's because he knows he can 'abuse' his chin or just a lack of defensive ability is open to question. Timing is critical for Groves. I don't care how good Froch's chin is, if Groves can draw Froch in and catch him he has the power to punish him. The punches you don't see are the punches that cause damage, Booth fighters are all about landing power shots when the opponent can't react either because a)they don't see it or b)their momentum take them into the shot. IF Groves can get that timing right he can KO Froch.

I agree with the majority that Froch is far more likely to win. The variables are stacked in his favour but Groves can stop Carl.

Stieglitz and Abraham are well above domestic level.

I like Groves but he is out of his league here. Froch will knock him out in six rounds. I'm looking forward to a few dodgy shirt and tie combinations from Groves on the build up to this one. Pretty sure he does it on purpose.

Im surprised that people think groves comes across well, personality wise. I think he did before the degale fight but ever since he's become a David haye/Adam booth wannabe (watch griffs last vid). Its painful the amount of mannerisms he's picked up from them, and imo he can't pull it off.
