Read today he's back out on August 17th at The Corn Exchange in Edinburgh. Anyone got any more details on the show etc? Hes still struggling to get fights apparently.
Who's running that show? It's hard to keep up with Craig it was Di bella a few months going back to America then ended up in Kilmarnock, he really should have took his chance against BJS when offered it shame
Yeah That fight had more credibility than a light middle in patchy form and nick blackwell(although Blackwell was impressive) It would of been a good name on the cv for Saunders if he did the buisness
Fair dooz. With regards to the other posts and how a McEwan/Saunders fight plays out.......I reckon it be pretty flat for the first six...........then something would have to give. Saunders on backfoot and McEwan slipping/countering.....is how I see it.........and see it being kinda bland. Points win for BJS probably (not something I would want)
Shame that a guy who only loses are to Andy Lee when he was up on points and Kid Chocolate is struggling for decent fights. Time to take a risk and accept whatever big name comes next, Craig would still be a good name for BJS or Ryder to fight next.
Yeah, he's the forgotten-about fourth best MW from the UK (fifth best from the Isles counting Lee) - yet he is spoken of less than most of the much less distinguished kids on the next tier down incl. Saunders, Ryder, Eubank, etc.
Entering PF at Light-Middle was a shambles. Why a standard bout couldn't of been made........who knows. Be interesting to hear/know the fights he turned down.......
I heard from both Craig and Billy on it and their stories couldn't be more different. Billy said Craig was offered a couple big fights while Craig claims he was offered nothing but small Ice-rink fights while with Billy then when he asked to leave he was suddenly offered BJS which was a fight he didn't believe actually existed. Make your own mind up I guess, truth may be somewhere in the middle. Shame, guy was over hanging with the best regularly in sparring in the US and it looks like moving back was a mistake though it was something I believed was best at the time. I've heard a few well respected Scottish boxers call him the most naturally gifted boxer we've had in a long time.
This is a Sweeney Promotions, i am led to beleive that John McCallum is on the card . I would also suspect Paul Burns and Davie Drummond might feature ,but dont qoute me on that. Aug in Edinburgh is busy with fesitval shows so could be a hard sell, but lets hope it gets a good return ! Craig will do a few as Corn Exchange is only a few miles away from Clovie
Same........with regards to offers. I do wonder as to how much the sparring took out of him over there.....hard gym. Gifted he is......remember watching him throw a combo at the ref in banter after dishing his opponent one.
I think he loved sparring but maybe you're right, it must take its toll plus I think at that point he wasn't doing much conditioning other than the sparring which ultimately cost him vs Lee. Seems to be working really hard on that now and has his own coach so unless he was trying to get back up the ladder and take big fights I'm not sure why he'd go to the trouble of doing all that at this point. Great guy as well, hoping we see him have another run of some kind.
