I'm starting to think Groves / Booth may have got their timing spot on!!!

I can see Groves picking up a few early rounds. After Froch lands a few, I see Groves getting cut and the fight getting stopped.
Really hope it doesn't though. 12 rounds of war would be great. Styles make fights and both of these guys are top class! Is Groves ready yet? We'll soon find out

I expect Froch to take some shots early in the fight then stop Groves in the last 3 or 4 rounds. Experience is key in big fights like this and Froch has shitloads more experience than Groves who has always been limited. Glenn Johnson was a shot fighter by the time Groves got to him and people are blinded by this.
Should be a good battle either way :)

I rated Froch then the same as I do now. He had already beaten Taylor and Pascal at that point.

He hasn't improved that much since then, if at all.

I've decided it makes sense to just be blidningly optimistic about George and his chances. Hope that clears things up.

:good For sure Groves handled Johnson better although Froch gave me impression he went through motions with Johnson. Never seemed that key'd up for it like other fights. Seemed to think he was destined for the final etc.

Not to mention Johnson was still very live with Froch unlike with Groves.

I'd be interested to know if anyone felt that Froch was actually fairly average vs Kessler? Was an enjoyable fight but Froch seemed to have very little left the longer the fight went on.

If a semi shot middleweight Jermain Taylor can drop Froch with a well timed shot, there's no reason a big super middle in Groves with similarly good timing can hurt, drop and stop Carl. Froch got put on ***** street by Kessler in both their fights so he's not invincible.

I dunno Froch came on strong in that 12th round. From where i was sat i was worried Froch was going to run away with a easy win after 3rd round. Then Carl being Carl goes and makes life hard for himself but also credit to Kessler who adapted well. It was a tough war and could leave Carl depleted.

Froch did appear to fade but it was masked a little at the time by how much Kessler himself had declined. If Groves had fought Abraham or Steiglitz, then Carl I'd be backing Groves to win. as it stands Froch still has a bit too much I think at the minute-this could change though ha

Isn't that fairly standard though? Big last round and all that?

If you analyse his last 3 fights Ward utterly dismantled Froch, Bute came with the hype but we still have no idea how good he really is and Kessler looked a shadow of himself imo. Have the last two wins been as good as we truly believe?

I don't want to put Froch's achievements down, that would be stupid of me but he's 36 and time will catch up with him eventually.

I feel Groves has the ability to box in enough different ways that he could really present Carl with a lot of problems.

I think it's the way Froch put it on Kessler. He still had it in tank to go another gear and let his hands go with power.

I understand what you mean though but we can deface peoples records and run the rule over wins and losses till were blue in the face. But for as much questions we ask of Froch. Mr Groves has plenty to be answered as well.

I think he can present Froch with plenty of problems. But do feel many are looking at Ward and Dirrell two physically gifted athletes and both technically/stylistically very different to Groves IMO and believing Groves has the same level of movement and skill for me is frankly madness.

Groves has quality punch variety and power and has a good tactician in his corner and i feel he's had enough experience to at least put up a quality battle and run Froch close. I don't however believe he's defensively that good and feel he has a breaking point from sparring stories.

Not to say he's not a guy who can stand and have it but Froch is a tough guy and willing to do all he can to win. Groves has shown toughness but this fights at a different level to likes of Anderson and Sierra.

The problem for George may be if he lands flush on Carl's chin and Carl just looks straight back at him will George loss the plot

"You ain't got no chin George" - James DeGale MBE

I don't think Groves will be able to take many of Froch's shots over the 12 rounds. I can't him suriving unless he is incredibly disciplined & negative.

Yep, and specifically the right hand against Froch's silly guard. Groves has a good one & I wouldn't that surprised if he dropped Froch with one, though I doubt he'd stop him.

Froch's chin does get a little overrated at times.
